5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful!
"Funny Things Kids Say" is a wonderful reminder of real life with children. It is humorous yet so true. Children will interpret words and situations in the most ridiculous ways. And "Funny Things Kids Say" is an excellent look at the brighter side of childhood. Once you start it, you won't put it down! Highly recommended for parents, teachers...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
I should have given this book a much closer look before purchase. As soon as it was in my hands, it felt like a homemade book - at a price I consider too high for this level of put-it-together. Although I'm not opposed to a Christian theme, I was disappointed that that was not clearly mentioned. I felt the artwork lacked beauty and inspiration for me. I'm in the...

5.0 out of 5 stars TAKE A BREAK AND GET READY TO GIGGLE!, October 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Funny Things Kids Say - Vol. 3 (Funny Things Kids Say Will Brighten Any Day) (Paperback)
As a bonified rat in the rat race of the current modern day world - my breaks - like millions of others - are often over looked. But when I get really bogged down - The Funny Things Kids Say Vol. 3 comes off of the book shelf. Hi, my name is Jodie Lynn and I am a parenting columnist. I don't profess to be an expert - but kids are one thing I know - as does my good friend - Grace Housholder - the author of this book. Any time of any day when you feel like you are going to explode from "overscheduling," go for the gusto and open up this delightful and wonderful book. Kids really do say the funniest things and it is captured uniquely on every page. Just remember these words - TAKE A BREAK AND GET READY TO GIGGLE! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars For parents, grandparents & children -- a treasure!, May 7, 1997
By A Customer
The afternoon I placed Housholder's books on my coffeetable in my living room was the last I saw of them for weeks. They turned up on my nine year old daughter's nightstand -- where they've been cherished ever since! With three younger brothers, my daughter gets a kick out of being "in the know" -- I recommend this book not only for parents, grandparents and anyone else who LOVES children, but for children themselves! It's fun, "family-friendly" reading for all

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming, touching, funny - made me wish I was a parent., December 31, 1996
By A Customer
"The Funny Things Kids Say . . ." (both volumes) by Grace Housholder (illustrated by Debbie Rittenhouse) are absolute delights. Her books capture the funny, honesty of innocence, warmth (and, even the annoying but understandable) things children say and do. As I am not a parent, and the opportunity to enjoy such an experience is not destined for me in this lifetime, I would not ordinarily purchase this type of book. But when I saw them, began flipping through them and found myself remembering my own childhood experiences (and the tales my relations often recount about my own sayings and doings of yore) I was drawn in. This book is perfect for anyone who has or had children, works with or teaches children, or was ever a child themselves--and since children are hereditary, chances are, if you're not reading this, then you never were a child, and may not even exist. These volumes cover the gambit of the child's and the parents' child-rearing experiences. From childrens' funny remarks about their earliest school days to potty training and the birds and the bees, everyone can find something for them in these books. And if you're like me, you'll laugh and well up with tears as you recall, with humbleness, that a child's interpretation of the world is so different from that of the adults. The book is charming, touching, funny, easy to read, a delight to view (the beautiful illustrations), and all serve to make this a recommended purchase and a lovely gift.
