My 5 1/2 year old son has been wanting this toy for weeks. I was lucky enough to get the Panda that he wanted. He wasn't supposed to get it until his birthday in November, but I couldn't resist, since every time we're in a store he begs for one.
Knowing going into the purchase that this is an anamatronic toy, I didn't expect it to totally feel like a stuffed animal. But it is still plush enough that its cuddly. The body features are so realistic; paws, nose, and mouth are amazing. We had absolutely no problems getting the batteries in or turning it on like other responders.
Within the first 15 minutes, we were able to get the bear to do everything the box said including Peek a Boo. My nine year old, who I didn't think would want one, now says he wants one too!! This is the cutest toy. We are trying to find the elusive Black Bear, really really cute. Saw one review that they had them at Sam's club, not a member there.

Warning! I wouldn't recommend this toy for kids under the 4 years old. I would assume if you pull too much the mechanical head and limbs that the gears will strip.

My sister has triplet girls. They all got one of these for their third birthday. I got three different colors; Panda, white and brown. One for each.
The kids went wild for them. The bears drink out of a pretend bottle, giggle and coo when their played with. A great thing about them is they turn off automatically when their not played with for a while. That is important because the on/off switch is a pain to get at.
Very important: Make sure you put the batteries in before giving the gift. These things are secured in the box with wire so heavily that it took me five minutes each to take them out. Then you have to split a Velcro seam in their fur to put the batteries in. The kids did not like waiting for me to get these working, and were a bit horrified when I split the fur to install batteries.
Once they were up and running, all other birthday gifts were ignored.
They have had the bears for three months now. All are still working and the kids still play and sleep with them.

THE ADVERTISMENT IS RUNNING ALOT ON TV (GOOD MARKETING) FOR THE KIDS TO SEE, IF YOU OWN THE CATS AND DOGS (I DO) THIS IS 100 TIMES BETTER THEY SEEM TO HAVE MADE IMPROVEMENTS EVERYTIME THEY PUT OUT A NEW ONE ON THE MARKET. THE CUB (I BOUGHT THE PANDA) MY DAUGHTER ASKS SANTA EVERYDAY FOR IT (24.99 TO MAKE MY DAUGHTER SMILE ON CHRISTMAS DAY IS WELL WORTH THE PRICE) AND PERSONALLY THIS IS THE NICEST FUR REAL THEY HAVE PUT OUT YET! ITS MORE INTERACTIVE, NICER LOOKING THEN THE CATS AND DOGS AND I AM HAPPY WITH IT 100%, ALSO USE IT AS A TEACHING TOY, TEACH YOUR CHILD ABOUT PANDA BEARS, WERE THEY LIVE, WHAT THEY EAT. ECT. CONSIDERING WHATS ON THE MARKET TODAY THIS IS NOT THAT EXPENSIVE, YOU CAN PAY $25 AND UP FOR A NICE STUFFED BEAR THAT DOES NOTHING. PS. THE BLACK BEAR IS OUT AND RUMOR HAS IT, IT IS VERY HARD TO FIND. SO JUST A HEADS UP, BEFORE THE HOLIDAY RUSH, I WOULD CONSIDER BUYING THIS ONE (AFTER THE HOLIDAY IF IT IS NOT WHAT YOU OR YOUR CHILD EXPECTED JUST KEEP YOUR RECEIPT AND RETURN IT, AND IF IT IS....YOU JUST MADE YOUR LITTLE ONES CHRISTMAS ALITTLE BRIGHTER.

I recently aquired one of these bears.I own several of the FurReal line of animatronic toys and this is by far the best.It is very lifelike,and fun to interact with.Learning how to interact with him is simple.Pet his back and he purrs or makes contented noises.Tickle his foot and he giggles and snorts,give him his bottle and he slurps.
I have to dispute many of the unfavorable reviews here.The toy is not difficult to use,nor is it hard to feed.I had no difficulty learning how to interact with it.Those who did must have had defective units.
The bear is very animated.His head,arms and snout move.Watching him operate is a joy.I can only see two flaws.One is that the battery compartment is a bit tricky to get into,and the other is that he is a bit hard.Still I don't know what one would expect from an animatronic toy.There has to be a place for the mechanics so it would be impossible for it to be as soft and cuddly as a regular plush.I think the trade off is worth it.

My 5 year old girl LOVES this toy. It is SO cute!! He makes the cutest noises. I have read alot of the other reviews and I totally disagree with them. It is a little hard, but what do you expect? It's not a stuffed toy, but an interactive one. Some of the other reviews complained that it couldn't hold its bottle or that it didn't play peek-a-boo very well. There is only so much a toy can do. Come on, it is still only a toy. The battery compartment is a little hard to get into, but that's fine. I don't really want it easy access to my child anyway. The bottom line is, I would definately buy this toy again. It's worth every penny!!

i got this bear today because its an early gotchaday present Gotchaday was the day i was leagaly adtopted so yah i always get a present for that its almost like haveing two birthdays well anyway i really love this bear i think that it is the cutest thing i have ever seen it really caugt my eye when i saw my cousent playing with hers and right then i knew i had to get one its great because it sounds so real but it does have one flaw the battery compartment is a little hard to undo because u have to take out both screws and also the on off switch is put in a weard place

My three year old daughter got this for "Christmas" (we do christmas with one set of grands at Thanksgiving) This little bear is so cute and sweet. He makes the cutest noises and is so interactive. My three year old loves hugging him and comes running when he cries or snuffles to be fed. She loves to tickle his toes and listen to him laugh. He was the hit of Christmas this year, and entertained an eight month old sitting beside us on the plane ride home for two hours.

I gave it 4 stars for education, because it doesn't really teach anything about a REAL Panda, but I didn't buy it for the educational aspect of it. As far as durability, it's lasted three days, and for my three year old, that's a lifetime! She has picked him up by the ears, the paws, the feet, and stuck any number of items in his mouth to "feed" him including several fingers at a time.

My six year old wants one now, and lucky for me they aren't THAT expensive. There will be another one under the tree at Christmas.

These past 5-star reviews don't seem to be too realistic or honest. I purchased this toy for my niece because it seemed adorable and because it had good reviews here at amazon. But I tried it out and ended up returning it before even giving it to her because it had too many problems. I found 6 dissapointing flaws with this toy, and listed them in order starting with the worst and going down to the not-as-bad problems.

1)First of all, it's completely unhuggable. He's kinda hard and they probably should have added a layer of something really soft under his fur to cover up the hard structure underneath. You can't cuddle with him, hug him, or carry him like you would with any other plush or stuffed toy or doll.
2)When the panda cries/whines for food, and I suppose the polar and the brown bear are also like this, it sounds kinda sad and can get irritating. It's not at all a cute cry like some baby doll toys.
3)All the Fur Real Friends Luv Cubs seem to have the same problem with their fur - it sheds like crazy. Especially the panda because he seems to be a little more hairy. They end up leaving a lot of fur on your clothes. If you have small children in the house, you should not buy this because it could be dangerous. And I also wouldn't recommend this toy to people who are prone to allergies or who sneeze easily.
4)When you place the bottle in it's mouth, it's supposed to stop crying and make a slurping noice. But you have to hold his head tightly and PUSH the bottle in so that the mouth's sensor can realize he's supposed to be eating now.
5)He's supposed to pretend to hold the bottle when you feed him because his arms are supposed to close up and his paws are supposed to touch the bottle, but his paws don't even come close to touching the bottle.
6)The battery compartment is a little hard to undo because you have to take out both screws. It's hard to get the batteries in because it's hard to reach, and the on/off switch is also hard to reach.

The kids and/or grownups have to really learn how to get it to do it's noises and reactions so that the kids could play with it. And it was pretty easy to learn, but I never did get it to play peek-a-boo, or maybe it did but it just didn't even look like that's what it was doing. The instruction booklet says your supposed to wait till it covers it's eyes to be able to get it to start to play, but it hardly ever covered it's eyes, and when it did, it did not respond to the button I pressed like the instructions said it would. I didn't know what to rate it's durability because I only had it for a few days, so I just gave it a two since I ended up not liking this toy. But the fun and educational value definitely deserved only one star. Overall I gave it two stars, because it was cute when he snores, burps, hiccups, and slurps. But besides that, there's really not a whole lot of reasons to buy this. This toy is not as realistic as it's advertised to be. And there are a lot cuter and cozier plush toys out there.

I had already purchased this bear for my cousin's daughter before any reviews came out. I was very concerned after reading the reviews that it would be a disappointment. She opened it last night and we all absolutely loved it--even the dads! The bear just hugs and hugs so sweetly and makes the cutest sounds. My little cousin is wild about it and stayed up late last night telling it stories. My daughter was so excited that she's added it to her list for Santa.

I totally agree with the reviewer from October 8th! This bear is not all it's cracked up to be.

I, too, had difficulty installing the batteries. The access opening is not very large, and you must unscrew the shield before actually getting to the battery encasement. Then reattaching the shield is a true juggling act.

I couldn't get the bear to play peek-a-boo on it's own: ever! I'm waiting until my 3 year old granddaughter tries it out before possibly returning the item. Maybe I'm too old for these toys.

Definitely don't wear a dark color when playing with the panda: it shreds continually!

My panda never held the bottle when drinking either. . . and hugging you. . . we'll see this afternoon at the party! But I'm not holding my breath on this either.

This item has been marketed very slickly on TV, but what you see there is not what I saw in my living room last night.
