I bought the Fur Real Polar Bear (I wanted the Panda, but that appears to be sold out all over the place) for my daughter to store away as a Christmas present. Well, her birthday was recently, so I of course broke down and gave it to her.
I am so glad I did. I have never seen a 2 year old so full of joy as when she holds this bear. It hugs her, it plays peek-a-boo with her, it purrs, and once in awhile when she hands it to me for safekeeping while she eats dinner or something, it'll whine, and then she will come running over and shoot me the Look of Death for making her bear cry, and she'll rip it out of my hands and hug it to pieces saying over and over, "I'm sorry bear!! It'll be OK! It'll be alright!!" And then she'll storm off, really upset that I was such a bad babysitter for Baby Bear. Anyway - my point is, it turned her into such an adorable little mommy, a role she seems to LOVE. I couldn't recommend this toy more if I tried. It's wonderful!

I bought this for my three year old and her one year old sister. I purchased the GO GO dog last Christmas and we were SO disappointed so Iwasn't so sure about getting the bear. Turns out the girls really like to play with him and he is easy enough to work with that my one year old likes to help feed him and hold him too. It's a fun toy if your child likes to be the caregiver for others and it's a great alternative for the little boy who's daddy might not want him dragging around a pink baby doll. At any rate it's a fun toy and worth the money.

I am 9 years old and I love my new panda cub. She is really cute and the noises are life-like. My mom has been giving her to me in the morning to wake me up, and it's really fun to take care of her. My advice is to read the instruction booklet first (especially if you are giving the bear to a little kid), because it is a little frustrating to try to "guess" how to get her to do things (like play peek-a-boo). But once you read the booklet, it is easy. Also, make sure you get the 3 "C" batteries so you can use it right away.

This was given to my 4 year old daughter on her birthday and it has not left her side unless I insist (preschool, bathtime, etc). She loves this bear!

After reading several other reviews, and having my daughter BEG for the toy based on the TV ads, I bought the Polar Bear (I think the Panda is cuter, but couldn't find it). I got it on sale - regularly nearly $50.00, but I got it for under $30. Honestly, I feel it is worth what I spent, but would have a serious problem paying any more than that. The details of the paws and so on are cute, but the face isn't very "sweet" - My husband said it was a bit 'creepy'. I didn't expect it to be really soft and plush, so that was no problem - but the batteries and on/off switch really ARE awfully inconvenient, as mentioned in other reviews. The toys movements are not nearly as realistic as they looked on TV - "peekaboo" and "holding the bottle" require a lot of imagination. The sounds it makes aren't particularly appealing either - my 11 year old describes it as "whiny and irritating" (she also thinks the brown bear looks warmer and more appealing). The bottom line is that my 6 year old likes the toy, but doesn't play with it as much as I had expected, and I expect it will be lost at the bottom of the toy bin before long.

We bought a Fur Real Polar Cub at Wal-Mart today. It was so cute! I took it out of its box this evening to install batteries and put in Santa's secret box... of course I could not resist a little trial play.
My first disappointment was how hard and unsnuggly he was, like holding a clanky metal box wrapped in not-soft fur. His arms were long and stiff, sticking straight out. But he was still cute... I installed the batteries and he started making lots of sounds and moving by himself as I read his booklet of instructions. His movements caused a buzzing mechanical sound. His voice/sounds did not sound like a bear... He sounded very much like a geo-pet, or whatever those things are called that sigh and coo and laugh unnaturally. This polar cub could do many tricks, as I read through the instructions, but it was like work to make him perform - a total imagination killer. But still... he did look pretty cute sitting there movng by himself... I reluctantly decided he is not the right kind of toy for us. I apologized to him as I wired him back into his box, and hoped someone else will buy him and love him. =o) He is very cute, and he sucks his bottle, but he is too clunky and noisy and demanding for free play.

We purchased this toy for our 4 year old daughter. The fun lasted for about 1 hour. It is heavy and hard. The arms are stiff and stick straight out. The motors make too much noise when it moves. Within a month or so, one of the arms was broken. What a WASTE OF MONEY!

The only draw back of this toy as others have said is the arms are stiff and make it hard to hug..
Other than that, this toy is simply adorable , the motorized sound of movements are hardly noticable.. and the sounds it makes are truly neat. My daughter got this over a year ago, (she is 7 now) and she still loves this bear and we have not had any problems with any broken limbs.

I just got this cute polar bear for my 3yr.old daughters birthday. She saw it at the store & wanted it so bad but I could not see paying $32 for it. After finding it on sale alot cheaper, I bought it for her.
She loves this bear so much! I agree that the motor is a bit loud when the arms move. The cutest thing we think it does, is when it starts making slurping noises when feeding it, he/she sometimes gets the hiccups afterwards. When I first saw this toy I thought it would do alot more, esp for the price I first saw it at. IMO I do not think it's worth more than $20. The legs do not move on their own. He does move his arms & moves his ears, head & snout a little bit. He doesn't really make alot of different sounds. His favorite to make is a whooping sound. One thing that kinda gets annoying after awhile of hearing, is the snorting (just like a pig) he makes while laughing when he's getting tickled. I would buy this toy again b/c my daughter loves it & it is so cute!

Our 5 year daughter purchased this with a gift certificate she received for Christmas this year. She has had a great time playing with it and will not put it down! She loves being able to care for and feed it with the bottle, and one of her favorites is hugging it to make it go to sleep. Her older brothers (mom, too) are enjoying it just as much. It is very cute and loveable.
