This review is from: Fur Trade and Exploration: Opening the Far Northwest, 1821-1852 (Paperback)
If you are intersted the exploration of North America this is a great book. It goes through the exploration of the Stikine, Liard and Yukon rivers in Canada and Alaska. The author seems to have first hand knowledge of the rivers involved and the difficulties in navigating them. It also gives an interesting look at the politics, economics, and hardships of opening new territory to the fur trade.I personally really enjoyed this book and have read several other books on similar topics. I actually read it a little slower than I usually read, to make it last longer. |
