Product Description

Editorial Review

Furby has been resurrected from relative hibernation to join the throng of electronic pets on the toy market—and, truthfully, he’s one of the cuter ones out there. With his round, furry body; pointy, wiggling ears; and cute little Munchkin voice, Furby is much more endearing than some of the competing hard plastic robotic animals. He’s also a lot more sophisticated than previous models as Furby is now powered by a technology Hasbro calls emoto-tronics. This technology enables the little guy to show his moods, from happy to sleepy to surprised to sad, through facial expressions and through the tone of his voice. Furby arrives speaking his native tongue of Furbish, which sounds like a bunch of gibberish to the untrained ear. With his owners’ guidance, however, Furby learns a form of English that sounds like a cross between Gremlin chattering noises and Yoda’s backwards sentences. The more kids play with Furby, the more advanced his actions and vocabulary become; eventually, he can tell a joke or story or play a game. Furby runs on four "AA" batteries (not included). --Cristina Vaamonde

5.0 out of 5 stars A great toy, December 23, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Furbie White with Pink/Black Specked (Toy)
The hit toy from 1998, but with more features and everything!

This toy is ADDICTIVLEY fun! It is just plain amazing. At first, your Furby speaks Furbish, the magical language that all Furbies. Don't worry. There is a dictionary in the manual. Anyway, after playing with your Furby, he will progress in learning English.

Your Furby can understand 10 commands:
Tell me a joke
Tell me astory
Sing me a song
Do you want to play?
Are you hungry?
How are you?
Go to sleep
Show me a dance
I love you!
and I speak Furbish

Saying a command is very simple. Just say "Hey Furby!" and wait for a reply. Then, give a command. Her is what the cmmands do:
1. Tell me a joke: Your Furby will tell you a knock-knock joke
2.Tell me a story: He tells you a stoy about himself and his homeland.
3.Sing me a song: He will sing you "Twinkle, Twinkle little Star in a mix of English and a little Furbish
4.Do you want to play: He will play Red Light, Green Light with you. He will also give you step by step instructions.
5. Are you hungry: He will tell you if he is hungry. If he is, you can feed him with the spoon that is included.
6.How are you: He will tell you his current mood
7.Go to sleep: Will make him go to sleep if tired
8.Show me a dance: He will dance for you
9. I love you: This will make him very happy
10. I speak Furbish: This will let you give him a command in furbish.

As you may have heard, Furby is "emototronic". You a re probably wondering what that is.That mean, llike a puppet, he can truly express his mood with facial expressions and voice tones. He is very high-tech, and amazingly realistic. He is one of those toys that feels almost real.

I hope this review helped!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Furb-ulous Furb-tastic and the Furb-ultimate FURBY!, October 27, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Furbie White with Pink/Black Specked (Toy)
I had originally bought this as a Christmas gift for a niece. It has a little button in front, so that you can try it out. Well that little button was dangerous....It was so funny, I just HAD to take it out of its packaging. I played with it for at least an hour. It is absolutely hilarious and very interactive. I got right back on Amazon and ordered 5 more. Now ALL of my nieces and nephews are getting one for Christmas! It's a fun toy, the price is right and now is the time to buy before they are sold out. I heard that this color is supposed to be the 'hot' one this season, and I can see why. The long pink fur is great.

Darling toy, very pleased until I tried to change the batteries and found that NONE of our philips screwdrivers could do it. They need to change this triangular screw top, and just use an average one. It was frustrating and I will have to walk Furby into home depot and ask them what in the world it takes to change the batteries.. Now, mind you, I grew up with tools, my grandfather handmade some of his own beautiful tools and my husband owns a salvage and auto repair shop..TOOL TIME!! I can't find the tool for this!Hey Furby, change your won batteries..
