Product Description

From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

In this entertaining program, children design their own virtual Furby which serves as an onscreen pet. The first step is for kids to pick their Furby- adult or baby. Next they select their critter's fur, eye and ear color. Once their Furby is ready to go, it's off to the Clubhouse where children feed it, brush its hair or put the creature to sleep. Also at the Furby Clubhouse, kids can change the color of the walls and ceiling or can click on a radio to play some tunes. Four solid logic games are included, all involving Furbys, of course. In one activity, kids fly Furby through the clouds while avoiding obstacles and earning points. In another game, children sort Furbys into a roller coaster car that sends them on a ride. There are four multilevel games to play plus several away from the computer activities. The downsides are fairly insignificant if you've got a true Furby fan in the house. In the Furby sorting game, the mouse operation is very buggy, making it tough to move each Furby to its appropriate car. Taking care of the customized Furby was a popular activity with testers, but the creature doesn't change over time or multiply like the animals of the Petz series, making the program less interesting to older kids. Its "smarts" are instead limited to talking in Furbish and responding to children's attention with animated reaction. Testers, on the whole, had a positive response to the program. Four- to five-year-old testers stuck with the program for hours taking care of their customized Furbys and playing the logic games.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good game to learn on for eye-hand coordination!, January 17, 2005

This review is from: Furby (CD-ROM)
Greetings, and here is my nutshell review for the Furby CD-Rom. When I was a kid, I had no video games whatsoever. They were not allowed in my house. I did not play my first video game until I was in my mid-20's, but was not very good and so, gave up easily. When I got my first computer, somebody got me this game as kind of a gag gift...but, I really enjoyed it and was able to develop some good eye-hand coordination by playing it! It's quite fun, actually, and it has different activities such as designing your own Furby, playing with him/her in the clubhouse, and games such as flying thru the clouds (think of Aladdin's flying carpet), plopping all the Furbys into the rollercoaster so they can ride it (my favorite), dancing Furbys in a nightclub where you have to keep them dancing by clicking on the right color disco ball, and a neat maze game which I'm not real good at yet. There is also a scrapbook section which contains the original Furby poem which appeared on the back of the box of the toy when it first came out, and Furbish-to-English dictionary and phrasebook, games the toy will play, coloring pages to be printed, and color photos of some of the early Furbys in their various fur patterns, very collectable!

I gave it 5 stars for playability, kitsch value, nostalgia trip, and the only caution would be: If you have Windows XP, when you install this game do not change your Direct X setup, skip that step. You might want to install it under Program Compatibility settings just to get it running. Windows 98 users: Make sure you have the right screen resolution settings for this game or it will not run properly! I have run this game on 2 different PC's so far....so good luck and have fun, thanks for reading my review!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, I guess, June 14, 2000

This game is ok I guess, I played it at my cousin's house. It'sgood for small children. I think it's pretty annoying just like thereal thing. But kids seem to enjoy it.The design a furby is pretty cool you can choose from a varity or colors to color your furby. I didn't get a chance to play with the games. And basically with this game you take care of your furby like it was a pet!
