There are several types of power conditioners out there. There are really three things to look for: circuit isolation, whether the circuitry is sacrificial, and whether the unit just protects against spikes (not truly a conditioner--though many claim to be they only do this) or actually smooths out the power signal.

This unit (designated by the plus) is non-sacrificial, meaning that if it takes a big spike it won't die. A nice feature. (I would suggest getting the plus model if you buy any Furman, anything less and you could be stranded after a voltage spike.)

It has two separate circuit paths, so hook up your power amp and computer on a different circuit than your digital recording interface and pre-amps and you should be okay. More expensive units isolate every circuit, less expensive all share one--meaning that a noisy device like a power amp for studio monitors can contaminate the clean circuit you are providing to the recording interface.

This unit cleans up the power signal nicely. Where I am the power is noisy, contaminated by fluorescent lights and gets a lot of clicking and popping from a refrigerator's compressor. The noise is all gone, and all I hear is the sound coming out; I have a very low THD amp and no longer even hear the amp hiss. Amazing.

The pullout lights leave a little to be desired, but that isn't why I bought this power conditioner. Overall, dollar for dollar, this is one of the best investments I have made for my home recording studio.

This is my third one of these I've purchased. Not because there's anything wrong with them, but the only ones I trust. I've had them as a part of my rack since 1986. That original one is still at work today. Awesome and dependable product.

While I can't speak much to the technicals since I'm not very savvy with power conditioners, but I'll say this, I'm very happy with it and really can't imagine buying another brand that is clunkier and tailored for stereo/tv equipment. Probably the biggest treat is I really didn't know what "Pull Out" LED lights meant. Awesome! Perfect for looking at DVD's in a dark room, and a great night light if so inclinded. I did watch the price of this and silimiar items for a year, and they GREATLY fluctuate.

Too subtle for words. In a big analog stero systen, the immediate effect is to loose all of the extension cords and clutter. Listening mostly to vinyl, the cloud of low end is gone, you are left wondering where your bass went because the mid and high ranges have been excentuated and expanded. For reel to reel it was hard to believe that it could be improved, but while hard to explain, the frequency range is still there but clarrified across the whole spectrum and noise is greatly reduced. As for CD (which I have listened to less and less), wow! The advent of all components being fed the same amount of filtered current has done wonders for our Friday Night listening session.

I was looking for a power conditioner for my dj rack and bought this one. So far it has been great. Very easy to use and install. Love the slide out lights and also the very spacious back plug ins. I would recomend this to anyone who is looking for a solid 15 amp power conditioner.
