An absolute time saver.., October 1, 2010
This review is from: Furman SPB-8 Stereo Pedal Board with Padded Carrying Case, Power Conditioner (Electronics)
This powered board has made it so simple and quick to cut down my setup and tear-down at live gigs. I do a lot of gigs. The power is there for all my effects, 9v and 12v alike. Everything is connected I just take it out of the case, sit it on the floor and run one chord to my amp and I'm done. I run wireless so I don't even have to plug a chord in for that, No hum, clean power it was so very worth the investment. The only problem I had was with the Velcro. It stuck so well the the board that it pulled the adhesive off of a couple of pedals. I put some contact cement on the pedals and the problem is solved. The pedals stay right where I put them. Great unit.

Power Supplies Fail / Furman Gives No Support, August 25, 2009
This review is from: Furman SPB-8 Stereo Pedal Board with Padded Carrying Case, Power Conditioner (Electronics)
I've had 2 of these for 3 years. On one of the boards I used 3 of the 8 - 9v outs to 3 pedals drawing way less current than the board specs allow. Recently after about 45 minutes of use in a session the power supply powering the 9v bus melted down, temperature on cover between the ac and 9v outs reached close to combustible temperatures. After the board cooled, the 9v outs were DOA as expected, transformer fried, still power available to the 3 ac outs. I use a one spot on both boards now, furman cannot be trusted. Don't gig with these if you don't have a back up power supply. Furman's description of product says there is a failsafe protection if powersupply if overloaded. Even in the 9v outs. Well, it was severely under load and it burned up without any protection to stop. These boards are also noisy.
Common complaints, wish I'd known prior to purchases. Check out reviews at Harmony Central.
I contacted Furman twice and the refuse to respond. I have other furman conditioners and graph eqs. I'll NEVER buy another furman product again.
Zzounds.com though is top notch, you can't go wrong with purchases there.. 'other than Furman'.

very good, very reliable board, August 25, 2010
This review is from: Furman SPB-8 Stereo Pedal Board with Padded Carrying Case, Power Conditioner (Electronics)
I've had this pedal board for a year. I bought it used from someone who had it for 2 years. He bought it from someone who'd had it for a year, but never gigged with it. I've beat this thing around, and the only thing that's failed on it were the power connectors. None of the outlets are bad, no issues with velcro coming up, or any other problems. I've used Furman power supplies for years, and I'm very stoked on this board.
I paid $100 cash for this thing and it was worth every penny. I don't know if I'd pay $175 when the model with a hard road case is just a bit more.
The reviewer who stated that Furman isn't very helpful isn't necessarily wrong. I've never had much luck with ANY company's support (except Ampeg and Gig-fx). I'm not sure what could have been done in that situation, though. After 3 years, not many warranties are still good. Still, I feel his pain, as several people have complained about this issue.
All in all, I'd recommend this board if you need a simple set up and maybe some stereo options. I've never noticed any noise in mine, but I'm only running 1 stereo pedal through it.
