This thing does it's job. The reason I've knocked it 1 star is due to 2 issues I have. First is that the power cable is too short for my liking, and the fact that it's hard-wired to the unit is a bit inconvenient. I realize that the power cable's gauge is large and they would be worried about someone using a cheap power cable that couldn't keep up with the amperage needed, but I still would like the ability to have a modular power cable.

The other reason which is easily passed over are the lights. They work well enough, and you're able to see your equipment in the dark with them, but they use such small dim bulbs that it needs to be pretty dark for them to be useful at all. Also, the cannisters that house the bulbs aren't very smooth pulling out or pushing in. I would say these are easily looked over, however it is the only difference between the M-8x and this model. As such, I felt they should be addressed.

As the industry standard in power conditioners, this unit lives up to its name. Other reviewers have commented negatively on slide out housing for the lights, but I have had no issue. Mine slide nicely, and seem to be pretty solid. That being said, I decided to give it 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple reasons:

1. Unit uses dim incandescent bulbs rather than LED lights which are much brighter and last longer.

2. The short depth of the unit basically negates the use of the rack space directly below the power conditioner when wall warts are in use. Or conversely, wall warts cannot be used if conditioner is mounted on the lowest rack.

All in all, very happy with functionality despite the couple minor "cons" I mentioned.

Nice unit, does what it is supposed to do. The light control knob and light tubes feel a little cheap and flimsy, but what can you expect at this price point. Using it to condition a portable sound and video system at our church, and I have no complaints about its function.

The Furman m 8lx is awesome! Works great! A must for any musician! The price is great and without it, your whole rack could be fried!

5 stars b/c this was so much cheaper than all other vendors of the exact same product. The pull-out lights didn't work when I got the unit though: the bulbs needed to be screwed in (which I was able to do through the little holes cut into the sides of the cylinders). All works fine now.

As expected, the Furman is always noiseless and does what it's supposed to do transparently. There's good reason why these are the standard in the industry. You can spend less and get junk that may not protect your electronics the way it should or spend more for no good reason, but you can't get anything better. Nice pice, good price; why look for something else? This is exactly what you need.

I was looking for a power conditioner for my gig rack, and this one surely fits the bill. It powers all of my equipment in the rack as well as 2 powered speakers without any problems or additional noise. I got an unbelievable price from PAHQ, and essentially got the unit with the pull out lights for less than the units without them. Very pleased.

This power conditioner is the absolute standard when it comes to rack power for musical performers/recorders. I do both (perform and produce) and use this Furman conditioner in all situations!

Powers up everything, no hums/buzzes, and best part is it includes lights to see your rack in the dark!

Purchased this item for my home theater and it is great. It gives me peace of mind knowing its protected and for under $50 an unbelievable deal.

Everything on this Furman Power Conditioner is working great except that the dimmer lights should be brighter and rubber legs would be welcome addition too! At a price of $59 though this is steal! Highly recommended!
