This kitty is very realistic, and very sweet looking.

It is cute, and the sensors in it's face, back and tail do make it's head turn, purr, a small arch in the back and the tail does kind of go up and down.

Now, less than six hours out of the box, the toy already doesn't work.

Oh, at first glance this cat is amazing. The face, including the eyes, ears, nose and whiskers are extremely lifelike. The thick plush fur helps promote the illusion of reality. The head movements are very natural, and the way his head tilts toward which cheek you pet is very nice. Certain behaviors add to the realism, such as raising his butt when you pet him back there, and getting mad when you mess with his tail.
The motor noises are definitely audible but not too bad. The sound effects are pretty good, the purring is natural and the meow is okay but a little too loud. So far I haven't heard too much variety either, just purr, meow, growl, hiss. The growling and hissing is funny but not too effective. *chuckle*
Overall Tiger did a great job!
But there are several things I was expecting which aren't there... such as "kneading and padding"??? That action is not possible, since there are simply no moving parts other than the neck, butt, and BASE of tail. That's right, the tail is permanently fixed into a static curve, which can be raised and lowered. I expected more mobility. And one early review I read claimed the mouth moves, and mine has a cute mouth (no teeth) I can open with a finger, but it does not open on its own. Perhaps mine is defective, but I doubt it. Heck, I almost expected the eyes to blink, which they don't. Guess furby spoiled me, in more ways than one, because I also expected a little more of a personality. The brief manual says he will behave "much like a real cat by being stubborn and sometimes unpredictable" but he hasn't done anything autonomously other than meow and purr and tilt his head. Time will tell though, I don't want to judge prematurely!
I'd recommend this toy to anyone who owns the toy "Scoozie" and likes it. It's a step up on the reality scale. Actually, when I held this and it was purring it was rather soothing. (My real cat didn't think so) But don't buy this expecting that "you won't even know the difference". You will.

I received my new friend the other day. She looks very life like, especially from a few feet away. However, the meow is not very realistic, almost sounds like a human imitating a cat "meow". The motor noises are a bit loud, and there is no kneeding function as advertised. Also, when it "goes to sleep", I cannot get it to wake up as the instructions explain. I have to turn it off and then back on to get it to wake it back up.
It is cute, and the sensors in it's face, back and tail do make it's head turn, purr, a small arch in the back and the tail does kind of go up and down. It also hisses and meows. If you leave it on and leave it alone, it will move hits head occasionally, meows once or twice - it shuts off in about 2 minutes after you stop touching it.
For a younger child, it would be enjoyable. I would say 7 yrs and under would have fun playing with their furry friend!

One of the overlooked values of this toy is the comfort and joy this cat brings to a person residing in a Nursing Home where live pets are not allowed. My wife is such a person and she suffers from dementia caused by a stroke nine years ago. She adores this cat and thinks of it as real. She talks to it and sleeps with it each night. She has named it Mimi and "Mimi" provides her with great relief from the anxiety which often accompanies residency in most Nursing Homes. The only problem associated with the cat is that it is so admired by the other patients (as well as the staff) that care must be taken to ensure its safekeeping. Toys such as this can sometimes be enjoyed more by adults than by children. Keep up the good work!

My wife and I just bought this toy for our five-year-old daughter's birthday. We really went to some trouble, sending my mother to Toys'R Us almost daily waiting to see if this back-ordered cat had hit the shelves. You can imagine our excitement to finally get one as we'd already heard this would be one of those hard-to-find items for this holiday season. Now, less than six hours out of the box, the toy already doesn't work. Of course, like any father, I assumed this was just the batteries. No such luck. Looks like this cat doesn't have 9 lives-- and now neither will the other one we've stashed in our trunk that was going to be a Christmas gift for our other daughter. Don't waste your money. The sounds weren't that realistic. And now I have to explain to my daughter why her "realistic" cat died. We are very disappointed.

This little kitty is sooo cute and sooo much fun. When my 2.5 year old daughter saw it she started yelling, "want kitty, mommy!!!" over and over. She then picked the box up by the little handle and carried it all over the house. So she had fun with it before I even opened the box. Once we finally got it out of the box, she yelled and laughed with delight as she played with her new cat!! My dog enjoyed it, too. :) I gave it 4 stars for education value because I think it's great for helping me teach my daughter about how to be gentle with animals. The fact that it responds to kindness with kindness and hisses when you're mean to it helps teach cause/effect. When the kitty hisses I can remind her that it's not nice to pull a kitty's a tail. I'd rather her learn this way than to pull a real cat's tail and get scratched. Overall, I think it's an adorable toy that is fun for the whole family!!!
