ISBN 0316113190 - Cute baby animal pictures can hardly be anything other than great, right? And why should they be only for little kids? Because it's a board book?! Don't let that hold you back - this one's a keeper.

Adorable photos of adorable animals, mostly puppies and kittens, but also including a lamb. Large text on pastel backgrounds accompany each photo.

Author Jane E. Gerver is largely uncredited, with her name in very tiny letters on the back cover; on the front cover, all credit goes to photographer Rachel Hale. This is acceptable, since the real point of the book is the photos! Children will certainly love the book, but so will adults. LOL Cats have entire websites dedicated to them - fans of those will love this book.

For the kids, the board pages are of two-fold benefit: they stand up to much handling and are very easy for small fingers to turn. The pages are glossy, which wipe clean easily, and the book is small enough to stick in a bag and take along when you're out.

My daughters absolutely love this book!! If your kids love animals then this book is for them. The pictures are adorable and the captions used to describe each picture are just plain cute. I highly recommend the other book in this series, "Furry Friends", as well.

"Furry Friends" will certainly bring out the "aw, how cute" for any baby animal lover. Rachel Hale's photographs have captured some adorable and playful moments of kittens, puppies, and even a lamb.

My son thought the pictures were fun and silly, but his only comment was there wasn't any shooting in this book (Star Wars is his current favorite theme at the moment). He wondered why a dog was wearing bunny ears since he definitely was a dog and not a bunny.

This board book, "Furry Friends," is developed around these playful pictures with the text being more a rhyming caption rather than following a story line or a recurring theme. Though the photographs were well done, because they focus on just the animals there isn't a lot of other detail in the picture for discussion.
