Humans are out to destroy the forest in the name of progress, but the animals that live there won't go out without a fight. We've seen it before in films like Over the Hedge, but this time it's a green, eco-friendly company versus a very organized group of animals under the leadership of a clever raccoon. Dan (Brendan Fraser) is the project manager who has moved his family from Chicago to the middle of an Oregon forest to live on-site in the community's model home. His wife Tammy (Brooke Shields) and son Tyler (Matt Prokop) aren't particularly happy about the move, but how bad can it be for one year? When unforeseen obstacles like an inconveniently located beaver dam threaten to slow progress and put the project over budget, Dan's commitment to eco-friendly methods is tested and his son dubs him a hypocrite. The animals start fighting back in a very organized, conniving way, but all Tammy sees is that Dan is beginning to go a little bit crazy. When phase 2 of the development is unveiled and the opportunity to head up the project, along with a considerable raise, is presented to Dan, he accepts without regard for the forest animals or his family. After suffering everything from a wet crotch resulting from a chewed sprinkler line to repeated skunk sprayings, a run-in with a swarm of bees, and an encounter with an insistently pecking crow that almost gets him killed, Dan begins to reconsider what's really important in life. This basic plot has been the basis of many similar movies, some good, some bad, but Furry Vengeance is such a predictable, superficial gag-fest that it quickly becomes more tiresome than funny--trite doesn't really even begin to describe it. (Ages 7 and older with parental guidance due to some mildly rude humor.) --Tami Horiuchi

Product Description

Sometimes, four legs are better than two. Dan (Brendan Fraser, The Mummy franchise) just moved his wife and son to the woods to take a new job with a supposedly eco-friendly housing development. But the fur and Dan's temper is sure to fly when the local critters learn of the bleak plans for their forest home and stop at nothing to halt construction. Brooke Shields (TV's Lipstick Jungle ), Matt Prokop (High School Musical 3: Senior Year), Ken Jeong (Knocked Up) and Angela Kinsey (TV's The Office ) co-star in this comedy for the whole family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just enjoy it., May 9, 2010

You buy your ticket. You park your logic and adult brain at the door. As you enter, you pull your 6th grade humor

back from the netherlands of childhood. And you just go with the absurdness of it all. And laugh. And remember that if animals could, they would. Enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Family Fun!!!, May 12, 2010
This review is from: Furry Vengeance (DVD)
I thought this movie was cute and perfect to watch with your kids. I honestly don't know why it has such low ratings. It's very funny. Brendan Fraser stars as a real estate developer named Dan Sanders who is planning to tear down the forest and build a mall. The animals of the forest soon decide to take matters into their own paws and make Dan's life miserable, until he realizes what they want. Dan's wife, Tammy doesn't believe him about the animals, and insists that he gets therapy. During an eco friendly fair, the animals will have their revenge against the man who is making Dan destroy the forest. If you love comedies, and children's movies, you'll love FURRY VENGEANCE!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brendan Fraser loots comedy gold!, March 7, 2011

So, Brendan Fraser may be known for overacting a bit. Maybe a lot of overacting. While there aren't any mummies in this movie, there's a lot of slapstick humour at Brendan Fraser's expense.

If you have ever tried to sleep in a new place, and that one noise keeps you awake just as you're about to fall asleep, as if the birds are making fun of you, you'll know what Brendan Fraser is feeling.

The animals are out to get him, and I'm not going to lie, it's pretty damn funny. It's pretty over the top, the squirrels have a mousetrap like traps in the mountains, as if they're fricking Ewoks attacking SUVs.

The movie has a pretty basic "save the community, save the planet" type message, something that young kids should have no problem picking up.

And really, kids will love this movie. It doesn't just have animals, it has funny animals acting like people.

It has pranks which involve port-a-potties and skunks. This movie is comedy gold. Not only that, but certain pranks are repeated several times, so you know exactly what's going to happen again! Being sprayed by skunks once, that's funny. Being sprayed again later? Classic.

The ending of the movie even has a squadron of dive-bombing seagulls dropping white goo on the big bad CEO and his flunky, while Brendan Fraser becomes the new town hero. It's a cheesy feel-good ending, after the animals have spent most of the movie making him their pet project.

This is a good movie for a road trip, to keep the kids busy in the back seat while you head out camping. Remind them of animals and the environment before you get there, so they keep the camp clean.
