5.0 out of 5 stars Bruce's Highest Adventure, August 30, 2006

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Further Adventures of (Audio CD)
In the late 1970s, Bruce Cockburn was undergoing his transition from introspective Canadian folkie to socially-conscious 80s rocker. "Further Adventures," along with "Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws," represent not only the progress of this transition, but also the artistic apex (thus far) of his long career. "Further Adventures" features upbeat melodies (Rainfall, Laughter, Prenons la Mer), contemplative acoustic wanderings (Red Ships Take Off in the Distance), jaw-dropping lyrical imagery and complexity (Outside a Broken Phone Booth, Feast of Fools), the loveliest post-apocalyptic ballad I've ever heard (Can I Go With You) and brilliant instrumentation throughout.
If I had to select any essential album from Bruce's extensive discography, "Further Adventures" would be the one. It never ceases to put me in a thoughtful and uplifted mood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can We Go With You?, March 20, 2006
This review is from: Further Adventures of (Audio CD)
The 'Further Adventures of' was Bruce Cockburn's ninth album following the highly successful live concert 'Circles in the Stream' and preceding his most succcessful Americn album, 'Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws.'

Still in his joyous, contemplative musical phase this -11 track-album/CD (there's one bonus track on this re-release) is a delightful mixture of upbeat melodies focusing on both the natural wonders of the world around us as well as displaying a deeper appreciation for the spiritual mysteries laying behind physical creation.

Whether singing in English or French, 'Further Adventures of' is yet another wonderful listening experience from the incredible Bruce Cockburn!
