Further French: An Advanced Course (Teach Yourself)

Definitely not for the beginner! Each chapter has two parts: the first part is a discussion of some aspect of French culture, say the fashion industry. The second part of each chapter is an actual dialog related to the first subject, say a discussion in a department store. The dialogues are on the tape, and the speakers talk really fast. The book also has language notes and discussions of the usages, verb tenses, etc. which are very helpful. The only caveat is that the text is not translated and not all words are in the glossary in the back of the book. But overall, I would recommend this to someone who is ready for challenging French study.

Before I studied this book,my French was on the level of Burak Çoban,who can only say "Je suis tres fatigue!".I couldn't speak,I couldn't write accurately,but now,I both understand and express myself at a high level.Thanks to TEACH YOURSELF!...

For 30 years, I did not speak French. Now, my interest in learning French renewed. TYS FURTHER FRENCH ( I bought it used from JENSON BOOKS ) is a wonderful book. Typically French, with grammar, conversation, colloquial, slang, everything in it. Book although used, is in good condition. Price is very very reasonable. The only regret is they did not make an audio CD with it. Every foreign language book should have audio CDs accompanying, I think, no exception. This book is not for beginners.
