A new Hot Tuna album is always something to look forward too and this one does not disappoint in the least. It's the electric band taken from the last Furthur festival tour. Jormas voice just seems to keep getting more expressive as time goes by. Stand out tracks include Third Week in Chelsa,Watch The North Wind Rise and the 11 minute plus Funky #7. The only minor downside is that on the old Dead fave song Big Railroad Blues Michael Falzarano sings the lead vocals..I would have loved to hear Jorma sing this one otherwise a great cd and one all fans should add to their collections

I get the overall impression from this live recording that the band is having fun; they enjoy what they're doing and they're good at it. Jorma plays an amplified acoustic guitar most of the time; the other guitarists and the piano is electric. It works. One of my favorites is the "Water Song." The song often repeats a wonderful guitar-bass riff that sort of ripples and shimmers. Upon close listen, I hear that Casady never quite plays the bass line the same way--so it remains interesting to the ear. This is easy to listen to and enjoyable.

Six String Heaven,
By A Customer
This review is from: And Furthurmore (Audio CD)
This is a great album. It probably won't convert the non-believers out there, but for fans of Hot Tuna and this type of music, it is a wonderful showcase. The jams are expansive but never 'too much' and the vocals and song selection are outstanding. Being a live album, there is a bit more spontinaity and looseness than a studio album, which adds to the enjoyment. Put it on and kick back and enjoy!
