5.0 out of 5 stars Great Once Again, May 3, 2003
By
KC (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play, Vol. 8, Friend (Paperback)
The latest installation to the Fushigi Yugi series is a little bit of everything. The dreaded pressure of romance, the fun (:and aching for the Celestial Warriors:) adventures, edge-of-your-seat suspense, thorns along the rocky path, and last but not least, here's a discreet hint: a sly, changed, and interested person. Hmmm...it's more interesting than I can describe it to be. ;)
This may be a general overview but describing the book any more would be giving you the whole story. You wouldn't want that. You definitely want to experience this book by yourself.
Variety is what I call entertainment. Oh, and an absolutely stunning cliff-hanger helps, too...

4.0 out of 5 stars Who are friends, and who enemies?, April 21, 2006
This review is from: Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play, Vol. 8, Friend (Paperback)
Yu Watase, Fushigi Yugi: Friend (Viz, 1992)

We left Miaka and friends stranded on what seemed to be a desert island at the end of book seven. In Friend, they find they're actually in Nucheng-Kuo, an all-female province where men are regarded as the enemy. Uh-oh... to make things worse, Soi, one of the Seiryu celestial warriors, has located them and is pursuing. (Side note: did anyone else get to the big revelation about Soi and think "huh, I just kind of assumed that to be the case."?)

While the series has taken on a decidedly darker bent in the past few volumes, Fushigi Yugi is still an amusing series and a lot of fun to read. A great intro to manga for those who've never read it before, or a fun series for the experienced. *** ?

5.0 out of 5 stars this is just great i can't think of a title, June 18, 2003

This review is from: Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play, Vol. 8, Friend (Paperback)
In this volume of FY miaka and the others land on an all female man hating island so you can guess there will be quite a few laughs there. Then it starts getting serious when they finally get 2 Be-gin. First Tamahone runs into Yui and finds out he a character in a book and Nuroku is going through quite a few changes including falling 4 miaka. Also this wolf-man has his hart set on killing Nuroku. Overall this is a great book and FY fans will luv it.
