Yui's attempt to seal the demon Tenkoh away and to separate the world of the Four Gods and the human world has failed. Tenkoh appears at the high school Yui and Miaka attend as Shigyo, with the evil Miru/Naomi as his assistant. At the end of episode 3, Tomahome's memories were sealed in seven jewels so he could be reborn in the real world with Miaka. The lovers are drawn back into the world of the Gods to recapture the jewels--if Tenkoh obtains them, Tomahome will somehow vanish. This new quest brings them into contact with the former members of the Suzaku Seven. These more dynamic characters, notably sorcerer-in-training Chichiri, mountain bandit Tasuki, and transvestite Nuriko, steal the show from the vapid lovers. Genki Yoshimura's script exhibits some chronological problems. When Tomahome arrived in Konan in episode 1, 50 years had passed since the battle at the end of the broadcast series, and Hotohori's grandson was emperor. When Tomahome and Miaka visit Konan in episode 5, only two years have elapsed and Hotohori's infant son occupies the throne. However, these inconsistencies are not likely to trouble fans of this mawkish magical-girl series. Sandwiched between the episodes of the main story are a strange series of "alternate takes," with the characters making fun of the unfolding plot. Rated 16 and up for risqué humor, mild profanity, and violence. --Charles Solomon

5.0 out of 5 stars Watase Yu hits another home run!, January 31, 2001

"Those young and old have a love of anime." --Quoting Me. Well, those two did it again! Tamahome (Taka) and Miaka manage to be sucked back into the book. The love birds much recover Taka's 7 memory balls which he had to relinquish in order to be reborn (Hense the title "Memories") After facing a few problems in and out of the book--problems like possesed students, insest (not too much), and random bouts of poison sucking--the Senshi find that these are just the beginings of the problems. One excellent sub-content is the play on Taski's feelings for Miaka...which meet a wall in the third tape. What's the attraction to her? I mean, even Nuriko loved her...maybe it's her sense of fashion, or the fact she could eat them out of house and home. Who knows. This tape is a must watch, if not a must have, for all you Fushinites out there, na no da!

4.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware!, July 19, 2002
<rant>
*ahem* I absolutely love Fushigi Yugi, and I am currently tryng to see the entire series (even though I know the ending...) but anyways, I would like to warn people of something about the OVA's formatting.

If your like me, you probably buy a mix of subbed and dubbed tapes, pretty much anything that is available. Well, for the OVA I bought the first tape, dubbed. It contained episodes 1-3. Then I bought the second tape, subtitled...and it contained episodes 5-7! I couldn't believe it, I had TOTALLY missed episode 4 (which, btw, I didn't notice until after watching a episode 7). So WATCH OUT, make sure you check to see what episodes are in the tapes before you buy them!

</rant> *^_^*

P.S: Chichiri is a cutie, eh?

5.0 out of 5 stars Fushigi Yuugi is #1!!!, July 8, 2002
By A Customer
If you loved the fushigi yuugi tv series, then you'll naturally love the ova's too. Even though the tv series is funnier, (the ova's get kinda depressing...) the ova's are great. This volume introduces some new bad guys, and begins to focus a little on the senshi's pasts too. My favorite ep. was the one with Nuriko's brother!! (good looks run in the family i guess :p )
I own the series dubbed, and i love it even tho I saw the first few episodes in japanese, then accidently bought the series in english. But the dub is great, even tho people say subbed is more emotional or whatever. People, dubbed is pretty emotional too, considering how much i cried during the really sad parts... (OMG! NURIKO!!!)
anyway, this volume is a great addition to any fushigi yuugi fan collector! thanx for reading!
