Fushigi Yugi Vocal Collection,
By Angel (Pheonix, AZ, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fushigi Yugi Vocal Collection (Audio CD)
I loved this CD. After I bought it, I took a three week vacation, and listened to nothing but the three CDs in this collection. The first CD contains the 8 songs sung bu Satou Akemi, and two by Konna Yukari, along with 5 kareoke tracks. The second CD has the Suzaku Seishi's two singles, except for Hotohori, who has three with Dengon. And also on the second CD is the Kareoke for "For My Loved One: END version". The third CD has Miaka and Yui's three songs, along with Nakago's two, Soi's two, and Suboshi and Amiboshi's one each. Also on the third CD are the songs from Hikitsu and Tomite, and Tatara, and kareoke for the opening and ending songs. This set is a must have for Fushigi Yugi fans.

I don't know what the previous reviewer was talking about when they said that the theme song was rearranged. Obviously, they never got a copy of the original soundtrack, else they would have known that the FULL version of "Itooshi Hito no Tameni" was in this collection, rather than the TV Size bonus track included in the Fushigi Yuugi Original Sountrack. This is not a new arrangement of the song, this is the version of the song that was released originally on the single of the theme song. There IS another arrangement of the song that was used as the ending of episode 52 (the last show,) however. This was originally released on Sato Akemi's album. To shed some light on this (sparce!) product description, the Fushigi Yuugi TV Series Songs Complete Collection is a 3-CD set of 39 songs and 8 bonus karaoke tracks from the televion series. This is ALL of the vocals from the 52-episode series (read: no OVA music) including those from Sato Akemi's own j-pop album (whose name just happens to escape me at this moment....) However, there is no BGM on this set, but I wasn't surprised, as this IS listed as the Fushigi Yuugi VOCAL collection. The first disc of the series has music mainly from Sato Akemi's album, including the OP theme song. The only two songs not vocalised by Sato Akemi are the ED theme song, "Tokimeki no Doukasen" and "Winner", an image song which is quite recognizable, both sung by Konno Yukari. There are also 5 karaoke tracks on this disc. The second disc has most of the songs from the Fushigi Yuugi Character's Vocal Collection. This disc features the 7 seishi's seiyuu, with each singing their two image songs (except Koyasu Takehito (Hotohori,) he has three songs, including "Dengon" from the Seriyuu Counterattack! album.) The karaoke track for "Itooshi Hito no Tameni (END version)" is on this disc. The third disc is basically everything else, including Araki Kae's (Miaka's) three image songs from the Fushigi Yuugi Character's vocal Collection and the Seriyuu Counterattack! album. This disc is mainly the vocals from the Seriyuu Counterattack! album, but it also has Yamanoi Jin's (Tatara's) image song, "Seed~Shushi~" and Iwanaga Tetsuya (Tomite) and Hiyama Nobuyuki's (Hikitsu's) song, "Kimi ga Hohoemu Nara" from the Wo Ai Fushigi World! album. The karaoke tracks on this album are "Itooshi Hito no Tameni" and "Tokimeki no Doukasen" (the OP and ED theme songs.) Altogether, this a valuable and thoroughly enjoyable addition to any Fushigi Yuugi fan's music collection, although you may want to keep hunting for the other albums if you want the BGM from Fushigi Yuugi. Fushigi Yuugi Vocals,

Wow, what a great cd!! This has all the characters vocal songs on it in a 3 cd set, as well as the opening and ending songs to the 52 episode series. This cd only has the vocals sung by the voice actors, it doesn't have the background music. And its great! It comes with a booklet with the lyircs in it (in Japanese though, but I'm sure you can find the translations on any anime lyrics page). The very popular song "Iitoshi Hito no Tame ni" slow version is on the cd also, along with the kareoke version! That song is absolutely beautiful and is one of my favorites, along with Hotohori's song, "Dengon". This is a great addition to anyone's anime song collection.

Great Collection,

I loved this CD. For months now, I have been trying to get a hold of the frist 4 songs on disk one and have had not clue as to where to look. These are the four main songs played throughout the movie (the theme, ending with credits, and the two songs where Tamohome realizes that he is a character in a book instead of a real life person.) These last two songs have been the most difficult paper for me to find. I couldn't get a hold these two songs, because most of the Soundtrack were not longer in print/being released. This album has several songs that I had never heard of (both in the movie and in the sound track. But they are interesting and this cd collection is well worth the cost and the wait. Hope you all enjoy.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Fushigi Yugi Vocal Collection (Audio CD)
This CD is a soundtrack of some of the songs that were written to go with Fushigi Yugi. And it totally rocks! It all has a great beat, the voices are pretty much all perfect for the characters, and teh lyrics (if you take the time to find the translations on the internet) are really cool. One of my favorite songs is Aoi Arashi, which is sung by Yui. I strongly reccommend this CD for any fans of Fushigi Yugi.

I was pleasently suprised by this set. I bought it knowing nothing about the Anime except for seeing the trailor on my recent Cardcaptor Sakura SUB tape. I saw it at a store and just bought it. Not knowing the Japanese characters is it's only setback for me, but I don't really care. The wide range of music styles makes it have something for most listeners.

Now your probably wondering why i gave this soundtrack 3 stars. It stinks to put it simpilly. Sure the sound is crisp and the cover is cool with a neat picture of Miaka (sp) but all in all the songs have been rearanged. I mean the opening song on the series has new lyrics and a higher toned beat. You'd think that you would get a better quality cd for all the trouble you have to go through to find it. In other words you'd have to be a Fushigi Yugi fanatic to get this one. The only good song is track 4. All in all if you want the fushigi music from the series then i sugest you buy the DVD since it comes with the music video's.
