4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, but not a must-have
This is a really interesting product, and I was initially attracted to it because it looks like some kind of alien seed pod.

As a kitchen accessory, it works great for eggs, but is somewhat awkward to work with for vegetables. The opening in the top is a little narrow if you're cooking a lot of food.

3.0 out of 5 stars The holes are huge!
I got this thinking I could boil frozen mixed veggies quickly. Unfortunately, that's out of the question as the holes on this are really really big. The peas, cut carrots, corn, and green beans will just float right through. It's good for much larger cut up veggies like broccoli, large carrot hunks, etc. It says on the package it can hold 1 dozen eggs. I haven't tried it,...

I really like this Pod. It is good for draining its contents and it keeps things from scorching in glass cook pots. Some small items may slip through the holes so use pasta etc. in a shape to avoid that problem. It is a great thing to have in the kitchen....and it makes me laugh every time I see it as it is sort of goofy looking. When I show it to people, none of them have any idea how it is used.

It's much larger than I anticipated. I wish they made a mini version.

Product is good...bought it to use on a sailboat and it is great for that...no metal parts to clang around or rust...compact storage...only thing i disliked is the size of the opening at top...It is small for getting the vegetables out...I would probably buy it again if the price was a little lower but i would not buy it again for the price i did.

This tool is a good idea, but this application fails. It is awkward to use, bulky to store, and ultimately not worth while. A tight lid cannot be put on a pot while using it, and it is difficult to get open when filled with hot food. I have given it to my grandchildren to see what they do with it--something more useful than trying to cook veggies, I'm sure.

I love my foodpod!

I just used it for the first time for boiling eggs. It is so easy to use. I don't have cracked hard-boiled eggs anymore - which will be perfect for coloring them.

The foodpod is much easier to store than a strainer - I keep it in my pot & take them both at the same time to use. Great when I blanched my broccoli in it. It was quick to remove all the pieces at the same time. I will definitely recommend this to my friends!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great to boil eggs in. Not so for some pasta. Never Rice !!!, March 9, 2011

Basically this item needs a hero...that's YOU to think outside of the box and work out how it might enhance your life.

Ok I read the reviews saying it wasn't good for pasta as it's holes are too large. I agree and it would be nice to have one more netted like with tiny small holes all over so one could grab the top handle and pull it out of pot letting it drain immediately.

ARE YOU LISTENING Fusionbrands? Great concept but you aren't quite there yet...lots of room for improvement or at least another model or two.

But on the other hand it's cute and does a great job with hard boiled eggs & small batch of potato's whole or small ones...green beans and baby carrots not cut up too small or sliced carrots chunkier sized. Cauliflower, Broccoli, Brusselsprouts that sort of veggie. I'm wondering if I could line it with a gauze & develop a simple boiled bread or rice type stuffing with this...where you don't put it down into water but set it up in a deep steamer or even set it on a crumpled bed of foil that sits in water and holds this slightly above the water so essentially using it as a holder for steamed foods...including veggie's as described above. I wouldn't say it is a true 9 by 9 inches like another reviewer complained. So super long veggie's aren't going to fit well either or poke out the strange holes.

Best thing Fusionbrands could do is invent a better food pod that works for most salad and elbow macaroni style pastas......because right now this is no more than an extra draining device for eggs. I like it for eggs but I also use my 10 year old egghead also sold on Amazon more often then not....I gave it 4 stars for it's ability to work my mind and challenge my imagination. Trying not to complain in my head about what it isn't and work out what it could do as is.....Always think outside the box it'll help keep you young. PS read the postive reviewers here that give you suggestions on what they do succeed in using this. Another improvement would be a way to let you boil/with stirring a pasta that when it's done you just grasp the top it pulls it alltogether and you yank it out to drain.....under cold water when needed too. I'm planning on taking it backpacking and camping to see if I can find an off the wall use.

Overall, a useful product. I have used it to cook fresh and frozen ravioli and it worked great. I wish the holes were smaller though. I tried to cook beans and some of them slipped thru the holes. Good for eggs and potatoes.

4.0 out of 5 stars An effective tool for a novice cook, November 26, 2010
This review is from: Fusionbrands Silicone Food Pod Cooking Basket and Strainer (Kitchen)
I bought the fusion pod after seeing it on Dr. Oz show. I tried this product immediately and it was wonderful. It really helped with the boiling of my potatoes and eggs. The only thing that would be a knock is the mouth is small and when you cook, it's hard to get food the food out while the pod is hot. This isn't really that big of a deal, but it makes things cleaner while I cook. The shipping by the company was good, I received it a number of days before it was suppose to get here. Good Item

I saw this on Dr. Oz and ordered it right away. Be very careful when ordering. The product description shows the dimensions as 9 X 9 X 9. Only in the written description do the correct measurements show - 6 X 6 X 5. As another reviewer wrote, the top opening is also very small. While it's ok if you're fixing brussell sprouts or baby carrots, it's way too small to work for something like broccoli. On that front, it isn't sufficient to hold what I fix for my husband and me, let alone it being big enough for a family of 4+.
