4.0 out of 5 stars Not as great as prior years, but still good.
The other reviewer is right in that it's not as good as prior years. It's just stills from the full length movies. Nothing as creative as the movie poster spoofs or interpretations of famous paintings. The 2007 and 2008 calendars are still my faves.

Pretty good Futurama is still better than most things out there though.

2.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing for fans of past Futurama calendars.
Past Futurama calendars have had themes like comic books or famous art, and put a fun Futurama spin on classic comic covers or famous works of art. This year is a collection of screen captures from the various DVD/BRD movies.

Yes it's Futurama, but I really miss the old formula from past Futurama calendars.

After twelve years of Futurama calendars, this one seems like the least inventive. After lampooning everything from pulp fiction, comic books and movie posters in past years, Bongo has phoned it in on this one with simple 16x9 still frames from the Season 5 DVD/movies. And every page is emblazoned (to fill space) with the episode title that the still comes from. And since there were only FOUR movies in S5, it gets kinda repetitive. Big disappointment considering the show made a comeback to live TV last year.

The calendar's one redeeming virtue is the centerfold image- a new movie poster for "Bender's Big Score."(not the same as the DVD cover art) It's a definite keeper and suitable for framing.

This review is from: Futurama 2010 Wall Calendar (Calendar)
I really like the style they took this year of the old comic book look. Sure, it is not as colorful as past calenders, but I can live with it for a year. I have been getting these calenders since they started them, and I think they just wanted to try something different this time out. And for me it worked. Plus it's funny; Lots of little stuff to read and interesting reworking of the characters into comics, both past and present. Clever idea, fun calender...as usual, a few worth framing.

I keep the Dilbert and Futurama calendars on the walls of my office. Most people know who Dilbert is, but Futurame is much less well known.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another year, another great Futurama calendar., November 16, 2011

I've bought a Futurama calendar every year they've been produced. There's been more hits than misses. This year's calendar is another good one. The Zapp Brannigan and Bender covers are easily my favorites.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, November 9, 2011

Hilarious and awesome calendar. If you love Futurama this is the 2012 calendar for you. The only thing I found slightly disappointing is that the professor didn't get a spread and some characters like Leela and Amy got 2.

2012 is an improvement from last year's calendar. This one features parodies of covers you'd see at the magazine stand, Vanity Fair, GQ, Cosmo, etc. Our favorite Futurama characters done up in a glossy, glamour "cover girl" style. Think of Marge Simpson's cover appearance in Maxim and Playboy, and you'll get the idea. Amy/Leela fans will be pleased, they each get two months. Amy Wong fanatics will be especially happy, since she's featured as the centerfold (the first time a single character got the centerfold since "Slave Leia" Leela in the Y2K calendar) And Amy is a literal scantily clad "PentiumHouse" centerfold.

Sometimes Bongo's Futurama calendar artwork and wit is very inspired. The best get reprinted as giclées sold for substantially more. But there's more glam going on here in 2012 than funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Your Wall, October 24, 2011
As a fan of the show "Futurama", I've been purchasing these calendars for as long as I can remember them being released. It's always fun to see what they'll do each year. Some have been better than others, but more they most part they are quite inventive each year.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth it for the poster, February 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I haven't owned any of the previous Futurama calendars, which apparently featured original artwork. All I can say is that this one is a bit of a joke by itself. All the images are directly from the four DVD movies that were made, and while I enjoy all of those, it seems a bit reductive to only feature images from those four. For that matter, the images themselves aren't generally that interesting (although Bender dropping a brick is funny) and are often just really random moments that don't capture anything about the plots and often aren't really from actual "jokes" in the movies. On top of this, maybe the funniest part of the calendar is that it makes a really obvious (to someone who knows the show/movies well enough, anyway) error, where the stock title artwork at the bottom of two of the pages are switched on accident, therefore listing the wrong movie for both of them.

That said, it's a calendar, and it's functional enough for the purpose and features the characters from the show, so if that appeals to you, it's not awful. Personally, I have no real need for a wall calendar, but it has a "centerfold" poster for "Bender's Big Score" that looks very cool (the artwork actually is original to the calendar too, making it just about the only artwork that is) and was worth buying it for. The one problem is that it's printed on other sides of two of the calendar pages, so you'd have to rip it out or (as I've done) just put up the whole calendar in tact without using it to actually hang the poster, but you can always wait until the middle or end of the year to do that. A worthy buy for that, but if you're looking for a really great calendar and don't absolutely HAVE to have one of Futurama, there are probably better options.
