4.0 out of 5 stars Still Good
During its original run, Futurama was one of the best comedies on television, and its return from an unjust cancellation was, to say the least, welcome. Fan opinion on the revived basic-cable Futurama was split- some hailed it as a return to form, some called for the execution of all involved. Season 6 will be no less controversial, I'm sure, but in my opinion it was...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cardboard slip packaging is crappy
I hate the packaging for this because its cardboard slide ins and the discs will get ruined very easily with each slide in and out. I wish the packaging had plastic holder at least, I mean come on all the previous ones excluding #5 had way better holders and packaging.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still Good, November 24, 2011
This review is from: Futurama: Volume 6 (DVD)
During its original run, Futurama was one of the best comedies on television, and its return from an unjust cancellation was, to say the least, welcome. Fan opinion on the revived basic-cable Futurama was split- some hailed it as a return to form, some called for the execution of all involved. There's not much to say plot-wise: if you're reading this review, you've probably watched and loved the first five seasons, and the sixth is much like. I do have to say that it's a drop in quality from the previous, but you'll get more than your fill of the crazy adventures of Fry, Leela, Bender and the whole Planet Express crew in this 13-episode set. Highlights include the Zoidberg-centric "The Tip of the Zoidberg", "Cold Warriors" and the non-canon anthology "Reincarnation". I would recommend purchasing this DVD to any Futurama fan or fan of comedy in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!, December 8, 2011

In the second season back after several years of cancellation, the Futurama crew has hit their groove once again! I've been a die hard fan since Futurama's inception, and I was absolutely ecstatic when they decided to bring it back from extinction. All the original episodes are near and dear to my heart, so I can truly understand why some of the fans build up their expectations so much that it's hard not to criticize the new episodes, but I have to say I'm finding the same 80/20 awesome/filler ratio I found in all the old seasons. They're still finding ways to spoof current events in a futuristic context, cramming in enough jokes that you find new things to laugh at the 5th time through, etc. All the things I loved about the early days with the Planet Express crew are true to form in their return...with the added benefit of HD! I can't get enough, and I hope they keep doing this for years to come. It's gonna be FUN ON THE BUN!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bite My Shiny Metal Review, December 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Futurama: Volume 6 [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Futurama 6 is still as hilarious as the earlier seasons. I've gone through both disks twice and once with commentary and still laugh at parts. The special features are good, but I wish there was more behind-the-scenes footage. I always enjoy watching voice actors in the studio, which you do get a glimpse of John and Billy, but I wish it showed the rest of the cast.

I wasn't sure how much of difference blu-ray would make on a cartoon, but it looks great on my TVs so I'm glad I bought them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cardboard slip packaging is crappy, January 6, 2012

They got too lazy on this one in my opinion both on the packaging and also the show. The shows comedy seems to be slipping up a bit compared to earlier episodes. Other than that my biggest dislike is the packaging and harder to keep discs from getting ruined. I will not re purchase this item just because the discs got ruined like the company probably hopes for. If I knew they were packaged like this I wouldn't have even bought it to begin with.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than Season 5, January 14, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Futurama: Volume 6 (DVD)
This was a strong improvement over season 5. The writing and plot development was better, with greater humor for the most part. Season 5 dipped into the raunchy a little too much for my taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars BETTER THAN THE SIMPSONS, January 2, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Futurama: Volume 6 (DVD)
I got the early release of this DVD, and it certainly lives up to the excellent standards of humor and animation quality that the entire series is generally known for. The characters of Fry and Leela continue to develop a relationship while the others basically perform as expected. The scripting remains fresh and funny and the sight gags come fast and are filled with the satirical pokes at stereotypes that this series is well known for. Every episode was excellent. Also the DVD's performed perfectly. The color quality and sound were excellent. I highly recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Volume, December 29, 2011
This review is from: Futurama: Volume 6 [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
These new 13 episodes of Futurama are just great. I enjoyed watching every single one of them. I bought the blu-ray edition and the quality of picture and sound are unbelievable. I would definitely recommend this volume.

I hope Futurama is here to stay for many more seasons.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Series!, December 27, 2011
This review is from: Futurama: Volume 6 (DVD)
If you have never watched this show before, get ready to laugh. This series has great writing and actors and you will find yourself laughing out loud in many places with the wit and humor that is shared in this series. I had missed some of the episodes in this season, but I was impressed with the quality of the DVD itself and above that there were some great special features that were offered for the true fan! I highly encourage all to check out this DVD set!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice DVD Extras, December 25, 2011
This review is from: Futurama: Volume 6 (DVD)
The set contains a number of very memorable episodes, including the touching "Overclockwise" and "Cold Warriors", as well as the astounding "Reincarnation", which reimagines Futurama in 3 entirely new animation styles, and was intended to be the "last episode ever" prior to Comedy Central's announcement that they had renewed the series for two more seasons. The DVD extras are very much worthwhile, including the first actual, non-fake, behind-the-scenes "how it's made" documentary, walking through the steps of the show's writing, animation, and production. Also plenty of deleted scenes and full commentaries as always. Quite interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Blu-Ray, December 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Futurama: Volume 6 [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
This volume was pretty good. I liked Volume 5 better, but Volume 5 had a greater novelty to it as the show had just been revived. The cardboard-y packaging is not great, but reduced carbon footprints even it out. Great extras. The one weird technical glitch I had with this BD is that whenever I started the episode with commentary, it would forget that I had subtitles on.
