4.0 out of 5 stars Bender Ain't Tardy For The Party!
Bender, is a cool robot for the 21st century. This guy is less than four inches tall but he has a bottle of booze and he's ready for the big party. This overly sarcastic fellow will never let you down (well, not all the time!)

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT a "Super Heavyweight"
I bought this thinking Bender would be solid die-cast like the similarly-packaged Gort figure was but this is not the case. This figure looks nice but is actually pretty light and is hollow metal. A nice figure still, but when they call it "Super Heavyweight" you really think he'd be solid like the Gort figure (also available as a regular and shiny nickel-plated figure).

The cartoon show "Futurama" was almost pulled from your TV screens more than once, but wild and wholly fans won't let it go away. This great character is a part of our culture and he's gonna be around for a few years to come. I like this little figure (not a doll!) and the box he comes in is almost a much fun as he is.
Four Stars!

The box that Bender comes in is fabulous. It's done in a retro style, with lots of flash and dazzle. You'll want to display the box for sure. Bender is his usual sly self and is well crafted. Not so much a toy as a collector item.

This is a well crafted Bender collectors item. Only a true Futurama fan can and will appreciate the craft in him. He is not a toy. The only issue IF there is one is to be careful 2 not Let any kid mess w/ his attena on his head.Im very happy w/it!

I love this toy. It sits proudly on my desk next to my Gumby and Dwight Bobblehead. Even non-Futurama fans like to pick it up and look at it as it is so high quality and shiny.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Futurama fans, but not so much as a toy, January 11, 2010
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

EDIT:er, wrong reviewed toy, this is supposed to be for the bright and shiny wind-up bender. how embarassing.

**Collector's part**

Firstly, this is a shiny Bender, so he's really easy on the eyes ( you probably knew that from the words Bender, didn't you?). The shiny edition is really nice and shiny and looks great as a deskpiece or collector's item.

Bender is made of a tin type metal, except for the shoulder joints, hands, and antenna, which are a gray colored plastic.

He comes in a really neat looking retro box, but Bender is of course the center of attention.

If you're a Futurama fan and need something to spruce up the cubicle, then this is for you.

He comes with a cigar and Motor Oil can, which can be attached and removed at will.

It's a great Futurama fan/collector's item! 5/5

**Toy Part**

EDIT: It turns out that Bender doesn't like walking on carpet or slick tile/tabletops. He'll walk fine on paper or cardboard. The full windup will propel him about 18 inches or so. 4/5 after this realization :)

If you have no idea what Futurama is or who Bender is, then this is most definitely not for you ( you probably wouldn't be here if you didn't know, right?)

You can twist Bender's antenna to change his mouth expression from normal with cigar hole, normal with no cigar hole, or wavy-angry. NOTE: it's better to twist the base of the antenna, since the antenna is kind of flimsy.

BIG NOTE HERE: DO NOT try and open up his casing. With it being a hinge and having a handle and all, I decided to try and open it up, but you're not meant to. There's a swivel lock thing, except it doesn't swivel. If you pry it open, like I did, you'll have a hard time forcing it back in. This could've been avoided by using a swiveling swivel lock, but hey, that was their design decision.

The Bender I got won't actually walk forward. He'll kind of shuffle forwards with five or so winds- not getting past an inch or so. If he doesn't decide to shuffle, he'll go in a circle, perhaps because of drunkenness?

Of course, since there are wheels on the bottom of his soles (don't worry, you can't see them if he's standing up), you can always give him a push or two, but it really defeats the purpose of automaton.

As a toy, he doesn't function well (I've seen many better cheap $1 windups than he is), but the fun is just seeing a Bender attempting to walk.

Toy value 3/5 Keep in mind, though, i'm very biased towards hailing Bender as our next great leader. If you're getting it for a Futurama fan, then by all means get it. If you're getting it for a kid who knows nothing about Bender and his exploits, then it might be a bit disappointing seeing him hobble along. Still, it's moving robot. What else does a kid want?

Overall, a 4/5 for Futurama lovers.

This is based on my son's response (he is 14) to the Bender when he got it for Christmas. "THIS IS AWESOME!!!" I thought it was a type of bobblehead but it turned out that it was not. It is really for collectors or those that just like to display items on a shelf. It is very shiny and heavy! There are no moving parts on this product. Overall, I am very pleased, the statue does look cool, and my son loves it!

Bought this toy for my husband's birthday and he loved it. This product is not flexible like some of the other Bender options, but it is a great weight, well built and Bender is shiney!

This isn't really a toy, of course... it's a display piece for your office or computer space. It's very cool and shiny, and reminds you with a glance of the great Futurama series and the countless memorable lines and episodes.

It doesn't warrant a durability rating as it just sits there, untouched, and educational value is laughable. But it's fun and cool to have around, and is worth every last nickel.
