4.0 out of 5 stars 4 comics in one book =)
Much like The Simpsons comic books. The drawings are as we remember them from the tv-show, and they are good... The stories are kinda good, the characters talk and behave as they should. If you like comics and Futurama then buy, if you don't like comics then go buy the dvd set's ;)

2.0 out of 5 stars Obviously not written by Matt Groening!
What upset me about this book was that it's listed as being written by Matt Groening. This is not the case. It's introduction is written by him, but the scripts were done by Eric Rogers, who is one of the staff writers for the TV series (info from [the web site]).

The writing seems a little dumbed-down at times, and it makes me wonder if it was written for a younger...

4.0 out of 5 stars It's so funny..., May 2, 2003

A great supplement to the DVDs (if you don't have them, you really should get them now!!). This book gives you several more adventures that Fry and the gang go on. The writing is pretty good - you can just hear the professor exclaiming "Goodness no!" and Bender making sarcastic cracks at everyone.

I think this is especially entertaining if you like reading comic books - but even if you don't (or have never tried), Futurama fans everywhere should find this book enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny - Loved it!, March 5, 2003

As someone who loved the show (and will miss it!), I grabbed the this book. It's as funny as the show and many pictures are worth a long look just to pick out the gags.

The writing seems a little dumbed-down at times, and it makes me wonder if it was written for a younger audience (pre-18) than the audience of the TV series. The exception would be the fourth story which is a parody of Apocalypse Now featuring Zap Branagan.

The colors are vibrant, and almost has the appearance of a photo book.

The art is spot on for the most part.

In the end, though, you have to look at it like this: here are four so-so episodes of a series that has unfortunately seem to have met its end, so fans looking for more material should pick it up.

Conclusion: Not horrible, but ultimately forgettable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, A good fix for when you can't see the show, July 22, 2003

This review is from: Futurama-O-Rama (Simpsons Futurama) (Paperback)
Good animation. I've seen the show so many times that the comic pretty much rolled. The jokes aren't as caustic as the show but they're funny. In a comic book you're going to get punchline humor, that's it. Overall I'm happy with it. Great when you want to see the show but can't.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love it, November 26, 2008

If you have enver read any of the Bongo comics series', you are in for a treat. Both "The Simpsons" and "Futurama" give us well drawn and written comics for almost anyone in the family.

Reading a Futurama comic is much like watching and episode. The characters act and talk the same as they do in the show. Mind you, most of the issues are not as hilarious as the great episodes, but are about on par with a decent episode. Also, if you are a Futurama fan, there are a lot of times hidden jokes just for the religious fans of the series and you get the chance to learn and see more about their universe.

More aliens, more jokes, and more of the characters that you cannot get enough of.

I recommend at least giving them a shot and this particular trade is a collection of issues, so you will get a good serving to check out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Futurama face without the personality, August 31, 2007

The only way this comic would be tolerable is if you enjoyed the show and can actually visualize the action according to the physics, action, and fun of the original cartoon. Even Futurama fans may find this comic a tough pill to swallow for their Futurama fix.

Though the art is solid and familiar, the writing and stories are ridiculously sub-par. i would much rather watch the worst Futurama episodes over again than read any of the comics in this trade paperback.

The writers occasionally attempt to interject some of the ongoing gags to make it feel like Futurama. Like everyone's disdain for Zoidberg. Common exclamatory phrases (Sweet Zombie Jesus!) and the like. But take all those out, and you just have stories that made me realize that they CAN make bad Futurama stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars FUTURAMA LIVES!!!, April 15, 2005

Futurama-O-Rama includes the first four comic books that have come out: a) Monkey Sea, Monkey Doom, b) ... But Deliver Us to Evil, c) The Owner of Mars Attacks, and d) Doop the Right Thing. Since the cancellation of the show (@#$$%%@@&^*!...), it's been pretty hard without Fry and the gang, but Futurama still lives on through these comics. Overall, it's a GREAT book; the stories and the dialogues are EXCELLENT, as for the witty humor and the characters... they are all there!

In short, it's a keeper!

PS BRING BACK THE SHOW!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars great read for waiting for plane, November 21, 2003

This review is from: Futurama-O-Rama (Simpsons Futurama) (Paperback)
I bought this book right before i went on my vacation to germany in july, i read most of it while i was waiting for our plane to arrive, I really got sucked into it. Unfortunately i later found out i can not read on planes. So this became the book type thing to read before each one of our planes. I really got sucked into the futurama universe with these, so much so that i thought later that i had actually watched those episodes, and would say phrases outloud from them and other futurama fans(who haven't read the book) didn't know where it came from. I kept getting the giant lobster one mixed up with the show, where leela eats zoidberg; oddly enough, that is probably the comic i get mised up with the show the most often. I savored this read so that i read it within each time getting on planes, so i had something to read on the trains to austria, and czech republic. I like it so much i read it again memorzing quotes from it, so i could repeat them outloud.
