5.0 out of 5 stars This one will creep up on you
After the Mahavishnu orchestra broke up, I needed to hear more from those four musicians. Jerry's music was so totally different from his Mahavishnu work that I put this CD back on the shelf for a couple of months. 3.0 out of 5 stars OK production
This is a little short
due to the fact the 'It's ALIVE'
version is much better.

After the Mahavishnu orchestra broke up, I needed to hear more from those four musicians. Jerry's music was so totally different from his Mahavishnu work that I put this CD back on the shelf for a couple of months. When I finally pulled it out again [I was planning on giving it away], I marveled at his classical layering of the instruments. The compositions [not songs] are interspersed with odd time signatures that nudge you off balance and keep the dream-like themes from putting you to sleep. This is one of those select few CD's that will force you into small claims court if anyone dares to scratch it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great cd to listen to at the end of a long day., August 7, 2000

I've listened to this cd since I was a kid, and it is one of the few I still listen to. It is very calming and relaxing. At the same time, it generates a great deal of imagery while listening to the cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Use the cruise control, January 7, 2004

This review is from: On the Future of Aviation (Audio CD)
If you play this in your car, you best use your cruise-control or you will be at 80 before you know it. The last cut, Sarah's lullaby is my favorite as it really gets you moving. My only complaint, it ends too soon. I could wish it to go on much longer. If you need to get some physical work done this will keep you going.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great music..., November 15, 2005
This review is from: On the Future of Aviation (Audio CD)
Great music...I've searched for years this album, as someone indicated above "not joke"...I've first listened to the track "On the Future of Aviation" when i was a 10 years-old child on TV...The very meaning of the word it reshaped my "spiritual world". A maturated fusion of new age, classical rock with modern and classical instruments; containing a bit of classical, classic rock and jazz sounds...

I suggest everyone that is seeking for inner peace and exploring the wondering world of spiritual imagines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Music, February 5, 2001

I have been searching for "On the Future of Aviation" for 6 years and that is no joke. I saw it first on the Landscape Channel in 1995 and I thought it was way cool. Then one day I see it on Amazon and I ordered it RIGHT away.

This music is totally ace and I suggest you buy it. I haven't paid much attention to the other tracks yet as the first is my fave piece of non-soundtrack music. There are no pictures or images to go with this music so the image you create in your head is totally original.

And brilliant music creates brilliant imagery. I have never seen any other Jerry Goodman CDs but I recommend that everyone gets this one.

I was given this on a cassette tape in 1985, then bought it on CD and just recently lost it (after two moves) so I had to buy it again. It is unlike any other album I have and is extremely good. The time signatures are often not standard; the instruments are different than expected, and the music actually makes me want to sing along, even though it is instrumental! I would love to find more music like this.
