4.0 out of 5 stars The Lost Album
First of all, please do not pay this much money for this record. You can easily get a normal-priced copy on Hieroglyphics.com. Well, this is it, Del's lost album. As many know, Del was dropped off Elektra before this album got released. And despite how lame it is on some level that that happened to our good friend Del, it was probably for the best. 3.0 out of 5 stars not del's best...
this album is alright...but compared to what Del is capable of, this one doesn't cut it. I was excited to get this album, expecting crazy lyrics..and that didn't really happen except for a couple of songs. My favorite songs on here are Love is Worth, and Town to Town. Town to Town is our future version of Del...damaging the sounds like we're used to.

Souls of Mischief were dropped off their label at roughly the same time and this led Hiero to band together, pool all the money they could, and independently release 3rd Eye Vision. Well, I must say 3rd Eye is one of my favorite hip hop albums, and it put the whole Hiero crew back on the map while simultaneously establishing the Hieroglyphics emporium. I've had a bootleg cassette copy of this album for years that I got off the Hiero web site, and I was really glad to see it finally properly released. This is a tight Del album all the way through, though maybe not his best. I would highly recommend this album to any serious Del or Hiero fan. It's not at all a fluke of a record. If you've never bought a Del album, or you've only got Deltron 3030, I would start with No Need For Alarm. If you really love Del or Hiero, this album is a must for any completist collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, January 8, 2004

This is Del's second best work (Deltron 3030 was the best), but it is still light years ahead of 99.9% of hip-hop. Only thing though is that you can buy this CD for 15 bucks on hieroglyphics.com
So dont get ripped off by Amazon.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Still one of the dopest Hip Hop Cd's, February 4, 2004

I've been a fan of Hiero for quite some time now and it took me a while to get into this album. It's a bit newer of a style for Del, but more of something that only he could do too.

There are lots of standout tracks, especially "Del's Nightmare" which I believe is probably the reason that the album was dropped by Elektra and not released in the states. I suggest this to anyone, but don't bother paying import prices on it. Go to the (www.)Hieroglyphics(.com) website and order a copy from there for regular CD prices... And while you're there, check out Casual's Truck driver and Pep Love's Ascension Side C. You can't them here, but they're both great.

Future Development is definitely a standout Del Album, with Deltron 3030 and I wish my Brother George was here. Pick it up as soon as possible, it's well worth your while...

4.0 out of 5 stars classic hip hop by a legend, July 24, 2006
This review is from: Future Development (Audio CD)
Future development is not Del's tightest(I think everyone can agree that Deltron 3030 delivers the best lyrical assault out of Del's collective), but this album carries an old school hip hop flavor that is hard to deny. The lyrics are still tight and on point and the beats are rather decent. If you are the kind that compares, you would notice that this albums production is much better than Both sides of the brain, yet the lyrical content is somewhat more achieved on Both sides of the brain, whereas the lyrics on Future Development are kind of in the growing process of Del's flow style. Still an amazing album by one of the best emcees ever. Pick it up, bask in the classic hip hop flavor, get schooled by the Delmeister.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavily slept on but Del's best work!, December 10, 2003

Coming from Oakland and living in the Bay Area (where Del and all of his crew is from) i've naturally heard lots of hype about Del. So last year I finally decided to check out one of his 5 LP's and it was dope! One of the best MC's I had heard, his lyrics were unique and voice was perfect and so easy to listen to. But then my friend said I had all of em but this. But I had never heard of this or seen it stores. And had to order online but it was worth it. This is Del's best album, his lyrics and beats are flawless. COP THIS DISC

4.0 out of 5 stars Del the Funky Homosapien - "Future Development", November 13, 2003

My boy Hannan put me on to Del a couple of years ago and after listening to his "Both Sides..." LP, I was definately impressed with the production and both Del's delivery and lyrics. Del isn't your average emcee, as he isn't afraid to experiment with different ideas and genres (hence the Gorrilaz and Deltron 3030 projects and the song "Proto Culture" which is a track off the "Both Sides..." LP that he devoted to video games...haha), and I don't expect everyone to take a liking to him, but true hip-hop heads should definately peep his "Both Sides..." LP and this one as well, as well as some of the work he did with his crew, Hieroglyphics. The songs "Corner Story" and "Don't Forget the Bass" are two excellent tracks off this CD that definately display both Del's lyrical prowess and story-telling ability, as on "Corner Story" he describes a stroll through his neighborhood. Anyways, my review doesn't do this CD justice by any means, so if you're a fan of Hiero, Del, or just hip-hop in general, go cop this CD right now, because it's one that most people have never heard of before and it's one you definately need in your collection (the only other way I know of getting this CD is off the Hieroglyphics website...never seen it in stores!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Blows away all current rap, August 27, 2003

Del is one of the best emcee's I have ver heard. He has a very creative rhyme scheme and a voice that is instantly recognizable. Despite the incredible Ludacris, I think Del is one of the most underrecognize underrated rappers thats out there. He writes some really funny AND meaningful lyrics and his beats are really cool. The best song on here would be "Del's Nightmare", which has absolutely brilliant lyrics and the music is just awesome. If you think your mainstream (c)rap like Fifty Cent And the Despicable, Deplorable, Horrendous Jay-Z is good, you owe it to yourself to check out Del and see what real rap is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Late Discovery - I've been missing out !, November 13, 2002

This piece is incredible! Del must be one of the greatest MC in the rap industry. I've always liked Del and any of the Hieroglyphics crew, but this album ranks among the top, if not at the very top. Del's lyrical flow is, as usual, captivating while the smooth beats make you relax and open up to Del's state of mind. If you like anything from the hieroglyphics crew, get this CD now ! If you're new to this rap style, it's not too late. Get this album and you'll understand the true nature of meaningfull Hip Hop !
