BE AWARE!!!,

I just got this off of another web site..."""NAME ALERT: Do not think the album "The Future is Listening" is by our UFO. It is by the band UFO! (The ! makes the difference), who have a handful of dance singles. Be warned!""" This isn't a Micheal Schenker, Phil Mogg, Pete Way CD! FYI

Phunckatek UFO! Great Album Drum & Bass!,
By
This review is from: The Future Is Listening (MP3 Download)
Amazing production album from US drum and bass artist UFO! This is not a rock band as you can tell from the other reviews. I believe this is UFO!'s first full length album. It contains a number of well produced Y2K+ DnB tracks. Standout tracks include Future Primitive, Esfirro, Airport, Deckard 2021. The track Cant Turn Back time is a sick slower chop-up that is signature UFO! nastyness. I should mention the breakdown on Airport is ahead of its time (the drum programing would make Dubstep producers envy). Things Happen for a Reason is a hybrid tune with DJ Shadow like melody over UFO! drums and sweeping atmospherics. A couple of these tracks above really show the progression of the San Francisco native.
Should also mention the album contains two CLASSIC UFO! tracks. Science Fact and Enemy Infiltration. Enemy Infiltration is a legendary US Drum n' Bass ANTHEM. The drum programming set the standard for UFO! tunes to follow. The atmospherics on Enemy Infiltration are eerie and beautiful. In fact a DAT of this tune was used by UK dnb producers at Renegade Recordings to cut a dnb track and UFO! was not given proper credit (i'm sure this is on wikipedia) Couple other tracks are atmospheric melodies etc. UFO! is an underground legend in the US drum and bass/Jungle music scene. One of the originators of the Phunckatek crew he has more recently relocated to NYC and continues his music endeavors.

Out of this world...,

Fore Warning: This is not some "ufo" rock band people are getting confused with. Pay attention before you buy this cd. This is drum and bass, and if you like UFO the english cheese rock, this is not what your looking for.Now on with the real cd. This is simply one of the best, solid, dnb cd's ive heard all 2001/2002. UFO! really delivers an awsome, original, drum and bass cd like you've never heard before. The mixing is good and follows a nice flow. From hard hitting 'Enemy Inflitration' (which put UFO! on the map) to feet stomping 'Airport'. Every single track is solid and makes you want to keep listening for that next cut to keep your body movin'. The whole cd could be described as a SCI-FI movie on fast forward. With that frantic to spaced out type of feel to the samples. If you like Dieselboy mixed with Dom and Roland and a 50's UFO movie, youll love this. To get a taste of UFO! The Future is Listening, get your hands on "Enemy Infiltration" mp3 or such. Then buy the cd, you won't regret. Easily one of my favourite CD's right now. UFO! contends as one of the most up-and-comming dnb DJ's and proves that and more on "The Future Is Listening" If I have influenced you to buy, consider, or throw your computer out the window, please click "yes" below.

This is NOT UFO the rock band! (Whatever it is, it's awful!),
By
This review is from: The Future Is Listening (Audio CD)
...make this more clear. This is NOT the classic rock metal band from England featureing Phil Mogg and Michael Schenker that has been around for 30 years and has a well-deserved worldwide following. No, this is godawful techno dance music that belongs at a rave...The "creators" of this dance music CD put an exclaimation point on the end of UFO, I suppose to make them different, but it's so subtle that no one notices: UFO vs. UFO! So, consequently, you have a lot of UFO fans out there getting excited, thinking the band has released a new record. Then this thing shows up and the police end up having to talk them down from their collective window ledges. The big clue here is the song titles. Mogg would never write a song called "Don't Step on my Dog." I mean what is THAT about? So... be forewarned. This is NOT UFO, the rock band. This isn't even rock music. God knows what it is...

This is a Classic Drum & Bass album,
By
This review is from: The Future Is Listening (Audio CD)
Please understand that the UFO rock group from last century is pretty crusty and cheesey. THIS cd is by UFO! the drum and bass artist and it is a classic album that is not to be missed.
If you are some old fart still listening to UFO the rock group...stop complaining about this cd, you obviously don't know your own groups work well enough to know what to buy...so shut up. Now, if you like drum and bass or any other electronic music, please consider this as a must-have and give it a listen. It will be remembered for years to come and someday have other old crusty grumpy people writing reviews of it.

WASTE OF MONEY,

Don't buy this dreck unless uninspired, talentless, cheesy drums and bass are your thing. Totally devoid of talent, this cd sounds like the soundtrack to a sleazy direct-to-video movie.

Techno is lame. It's all fake sampling caca. Most of it's listeners can't even stand to listen to it without being on drugs. Yes techno is like rap only it's worse as it has less soul and feeling than that. And worst of all this uses one of the greatest hard rock bands names. UFO. buy the real bands music not techno. UFO rocks but this isn't that group. Go find 'no heavy petting" or 'walk on water" and see what real artists can do.

future is techno boring and stupid blah blah...,
By truthreader "tazzer" (Pennsylvania, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Future Is Listening (Audio CD)
As others have stated here, this is NOT from the actual rock band UFO, but is basically braindead techno pop stuff like so much of the newer mainstream that is all they offer, unless it's more of the same sounding rap or hip-hop we've been bombarded with for too many years beyond counting. You'd think you could name it something a little different so as not to fool people anyway. It may be alright for those kids that are so easily pleased with drum machines and average bass lines, BUT, I must say one thing-UFO the rock band was not only very talented, distinctive and hard, melodic and accomplished, these 'crusty old grumps' whatever, (Phil Moog, Pete Way, etc.),are STILL MAKING cd's and jamming out GOOD SONGS of real music-and thank God for some hard rock bands that are doing so to give some of us that appreciate a deeper listening experience a blessed, meaningful alternative to this modern dreck! Amen to that
