Great idea, Hangman meets Mastermind, but falls short on play method. No way to contact developer. Needs optimizing for tablet screen. Flawed UI - doesn't remember game if you jump to menu or help. Easy to reset a game if you don't like it! Basic flaw in logic - if I guess an R in wrong place, it tells me with a circle. But if there are two R's and I get one, in the right place, it doesn't tell me there is another R, so I assume I am not looking for another.

With limited play, it's okay. However VERY annoying that one has to click on each square to enter each letter. It should automatically go to the next letter! Hope developers improve this with an update.

As another reviewer said, "Mastermind meets Hangman" was my first thought when I played this game. Out of dozens of Android games I've played, it is one of the very, very few I go out of my way to play at every opportunity.

The words are all common words, which eliminates having to think "could this random combination of letters be some esoteric words"? Instead, you just try to think of words using the letters you want to test.

I do have a few problems with the app though.
1. It doesn't play well with alternative keyboards, such as Flex T9 (which is like Swype). Sure, I can set it back to the basic keyboard when I play Lingrove, but then I have to change it back anytime I use another app. It would be nice to set which keyboard is used just for Lingrove, separately from the keyboard system setting... or at least, to only use the basic keyboard.
2. Lingrove forgets the word you were on if you leave that screen. Go back to the main menu? It's gone. You've ALMOST guessed the word and you get a phone call? It's gone.
3. I'll admit that I am not always able to figure out the word and (gasp) cheat, relying on the regex dictionary to help me out (god, I'm such a geek). A hint feature would be great, and could reduce the number of XP gained for that round with every hint.

I am hopeful for these improvements, but it is still a great game as is!

I really like this game.

I have unlocked 3 secrets so far, and, tho I find the story uncompelling, I still find myself playing the game wgen I have a few minutes to kill.

The reliance on my default keyboard is a little cumbersome because it makes it impossible to look at both the input field and the keys. This would be easily solved by adding a scroll bar or auto focusing on the current guess.

The gameplay is solid, altho, if there is more than one of the same letter in the target word it is not identified, unless you try a guess with more than 1 of the same letter. This adds a bit of difficulty, but also can create some confusion.

One thing the game lacks is a list of spent letters. If ut could darken incorrect guesses on the keyboard it would save a lot of back and forth between the game and the keys.

It starts off a little too easy, but, the difficulty ramps up after you gain a couple levels.

The art is pretty but simple, never an eyesore, but never mindblowing either.

I can't give this one 5 stars because it needs some polish....

I definetly find it to be above average tho, so, 4 stars!

Thank You Amazon!

Samsung Droid Charge, works fine. I can see how the UI is less than perfect, but it's not that bad, so I only deduct one star. Game itself is fun and not as hard as people are saying, with a bit of strategy it provides just the right challenge level. I ran into two words so far that I thought were ridiculous: HAARS and GLEED. I don't care about the story mode and wish there were more game modes and options, but it's still quite a fun challenge. If the UI is compatible with your phone and you like word puzzles, you should give it a try.

EDIT: This is the sort of thing I like to see, a developer who actually puts time into developing his apps. Since this game was FAotD, it has had numerous updates and all the bugs and annoyances of the original release have been fixed. A number of new features have been added, such as auto-save.

It's still a really hard game, especially as you get into the higher levels. And it still requires solving some 225 puzzles to unlock the entire story.

When it first came out, it was so frustrating to use I couldn't play it. Now that the flaws have been corrected, it's actually pretty enjoyable. I have raised my rating from 2 stars to 4.

Original review:

Wow, this is seriously one of the worst apps I've come across in a long time and I normally love word puzzle games. It's pretty clear that the developer is new to programming.

Only compatible with screens of a particular resolution? That's like selling a DVD that only works on a 46" television. It also appears to have serious problems with the Flex T9 keyboard (which was the Free App of the Day a while back), and you cannot change the keyboard while you're in the app.

I've also found a couple bugs. Once you select a space, there doesn't appear to be any way to unselect it or select another one without entering a letter. Worse, if you press the clear button, it erases the free letter the game gives you at the start! Hope you were paying attention!

You have to solve 225 puzzles to unlock the whole love story thing? The flaws in the game made me so frustrated I could only play twice. 225+ times? Not a chance in hell.

If you've got a phone with the appropriate screen resolution AND you're not using Flex T9 AND you have the patience of Job and the memory of an elephant AND you like word puzzles, then this is the app for you. Otherwise, spend your 99 cents on something else.
