5.0 out of 5 stars Sinisstar live
Sinisstar is one of the best bands i have ever seen live. I first saw them when they opened for Adema in Portland, and ever since, i have been a huge fan. Everything about Sinisstar is cool, from their totally origonal sound to the clothing they wear on stage. This CD is a powerful piece of music that is long overdue.

3.0 out of 5 stars nothing new, but fun to play really loud
I bought this CD on impulse. I was looking for it months ago when I heard the song PsychoSexy on the HeavyMetal2000 film soundtrack (the movie put a hurt on my eyes, by the way). PsychoSexy was one of the better tracks on that CD, and I still think it's one of the better tracks on their solo CD, although it is the last track on the CD. Interestingly, the version on the...

I don't have this CD yet but I will get it soon. When I went to the Rob Zombie concert SINISSTAR was opening up for him and the were cool. There bass player seemed the loudest. He was shaking my hole body and it felt like my heart stopped a couple times but it was cool. If you don't like there CD go check them out live the are cool.

Interestingly, the version on the Heavy Metal Soundtrack CD is cut in a different order for the verses/bridges/choruses. Frankly I think the Heavy Metal version is better. But you can go buy both CDs and be the judge for yourselves.
Anyway, there's really not much to say about the music itself. It sounds a little like Marilyn Manson circa Antichrist Superstar mixed in with a little late 80's arena rock sound mixed in with some numetal rap-style screeching. The lead singer has a powerful screech. Most of the tunes have a decent thump-a beat that is fun to play REALLY LOUD in the car, and most of the lyrics are basically just the band putting their middle fingers in the air and fist banging with the other. There is a proliferation of the F word.

4.0 out of 5 stars They are an Awsome Band, February 23, 2004

This band for me is a very nice band. The only thing that I don't like about this CD is that they rap, but preety much the rest was fine. The only songs that were not really impresive is White Noise and Spaceman. For me the best song is Freak of Nature and PshycoSexy.
Another thing that I didn't like was that they try to go and copy the image of Marilyn Manson like China he wants copy the image of Twiggy Ramirez though there both cute.
I own the CD and I thought that it was great but not as great as Marilyn Manson.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nu-metal that actually has guitar solos., December 18, 2003
This review is from: Future Shock (Audio CD)
The first time I listened to this album, I'd have to say I didn't care for it too much. However, not too long ago I pulled it back out and gave it another listen and am definitely finding it to my liking. I'm quite surprised the band hasn't been more successful; I've heard some of these songs on the radio and on TV numerous times and the band has toured with Static-X, so it would seem they'd have gotten a little farther than they have by now.

Granted, as other reviewers have pointed out, "Future Shock" doesn't exactly have the most original sound on the planet. Sinisstar are another nu-metal rap/rock band, however, an extremely notable difference I've found between them and the rest of the genre is that Sinisstar actually include guitar solos some of their songs. The band's music also has a much stronger electronic presence than do many of their counterparts. While neither one of these aspects really makes the band's sound terribly original, they do allow the band to present a higher level of musicianship and effort that isn't typically found in most nu-metal. The lyrics aren't always the most creative in the world, but for the most part the music itself tends to make up for this.

The only two tracks that I tend to skip are the opening "White Noise" and sixth track "Clear Plastic." Those two tracks were both produced by a different person than the others on the album, and they both have a much poppier generic feel to them. They strike me as being songs the band was forced to write so as to provide more easily accessable single material.

"Future Shock" is as far as I know, Sinisstar's first album. Obviously the band has a way to go before releasing something that's incredibly amazing and jaw-dropping, but this is definitely a good and very solid start. The group has a lot of potential to develop a more unique sound as they continue and build on the foundation they've created here. With a little more work, they could very easily be writing music that blows away almost everything else out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars They're homeless, so you should buy this., November 10, 2003
This review is from: Future Shock (Audio CD)
I bought this CD after listening to previews and hearing "Haunted" on Musicmatch. This band is rap metal with a little bit of an industrial edge. The frontman "Edgy" has an interesting voice. I was very surprised to find this at Wherehouse Music, judging by the fact that these guys are so unpopular, they're homeless (Buy this just to get them money for a house) I am not too impressed, however, the songs are fairly solid, but the previews and "Haunted" make the band seem better. Lyrics are a bit stupid, but if you're into nu or rap metal, you're used to that by now (can we say Limp Bizkit, Coal Chamber, etc.)

1) White Noise (7/10) I suppose this is good, but the chorus is kind of lame, not much real groove.

2) Freak of Nature (9/10) The title of my review comes from this song (unless they censor it, this wont make sense if they did). The lyrics are pretty bad, but he sounds cool when he sings them, and he cusses a whole lot. Chorus is kind of slow and dragging, but the electronicish parts are awesome.

3) Do it (9/10) A lot like freak of nature, but different enough to be good.

4) Drug Related (9/10) Industrial beginning is awesome and lyrics are fairly good, but fail to support the creepy mood. Fun to play loud, as another reviewer says.

5) Porcelain (10/10) Mellower track. The verses KICK, they are so awesome, makes you believe the band is so much better than they are. Listen to the preview on BMGmusic to hear one of them. The chorus is slightly dissapointing, but oh well. Great song, tied for best on the album.

6) Clear Plastic (5/10) More traditional/retro metal/rock feel, but I don't like it. Not too great. One to skip. Too popish. Worst on CD.

7) Spaceman (8/10) Pretty good, much better than White Noise or Clear Plastic. Different than others, actually kind of sounds like Jane's Addiction. I like it, though the lyrics are pretty lame.

8) Electric (8/10) Pretty good, almost one of best on the album but the lyrics are the worst on the CD. Very heavy.

9) First Day of Nowhere (8/10) Decent, nice mood. OK lyrics, not filler, not one of the best either. Good. More original that others on the CD.

10) Haunted (10/10) Awesome all the way through. Long and it builds up. Kind of heavy, but still a mellower track. Pretty good lyrics. Tied for the best on the CD with Porcelain.

11) Psychosexy (7/10) Don't like it particularly, don't see the relevance of the title, lame lyrics...I suppose it's OK. The hidden track at the end is better than it. Some people may like this.

Good album. Overall, the only 2 I consider anything you need are Porcelain and Haunted. If they keep making songs like that (A whole album of them?) they may get somewhere. I recommend this if you already have all the "essential" nu, rap, and industrial metal out there like all the stuff on my listmania list check it out at my page.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool stuff, June 12, 2002

This is a pretty good album, Sinisstar definitely know how to rock and still keep a catchy beat and tune up. Sort of a punk-type band, really, there isn't a whole lot to say about it, except to say that I'd recommend checking them out for sure.

Well, I had this a long time ago but it got stollen. I am about to order another copy because I love the song "Freak of Nature". The rest of the CD is pretty good too, with awesome sounds. I never heard of them besides owning the album when I randomly bought it off the internet because it was cheap. I was very shocked! (no pun intended!) The little 30 second clips you are listening to don't do this CD justice. These guys are really good and are terribly underated. I was really hoping they'd have another CD by now. Just pick this one up and give it a shot, it's like super cheap.
