Lee Coombs is a member of the breakbeats vanguard that threatens to blow up the music scene in 2002. Breakbeat to me is what you get when you cross speeded-up hip-hop with house/trance beats. This album is a superb example of the genre. Think of BT, Adam Freeland, Freq Nasty, Koma and Bones. Get the picture? There are remixes here - of Quivver and Sister Bliss tunes - and original artist's material from various guises. The common theme is funky, tribal beats and excellent production. Groovy beats, deep bass and samples from Apocalypse Now (one of the best movies of all time) characterize Skyjuice. Other favorites are Dance to the House, an 8 min scorcher. Thrust 2 and Air Guitar (too short). My only slight knock on this is that it sounds a bit the same from track to track (partly due to the mixed style of the album). However, this is not a bad thing when you sound this good. Take a chance on Mr. Coombs, I think you'll be glad that you did.
