a true tastemaker from a true artist,

This review is from: Future Tropic (Audio CD)
wow, i just got this today for christmas and i am very very pleased. i had just recently discovered afromystik (dj fluid's band) and quickly started digging their stuff. when i heard he had a mix album out, i new it would definitely be good. with the recent rise in popularity of latin/afro/brazilian rhythms, fluid showcases a nice variety of all. the funk mixed with the jazz, the samba with the hop, and the fun with the entire album. fans of compost (jazzanova, truby trio, beanfield) and ubiquity need to peep this comp.

DJ Fluid trips out smooth grooves,

DJ Fluid really is smooth. And this collection does not disappoint. Another in the impressive stable of OM releases, Future Tropic features lovely beats and Brazilian rhythms, mixed impeccably by Fluid. I especially like the Afro-Mystik tracks, and the way the last half flows like fine wine. Don't forget to check out some of the other fine OM products: Sounds of OM Volumes 1 and 2, San Francisco Sessions Volumes 1-3, OM Lounge Volumes 1-4, and the Mushroom Jazz Series, amongst others, are all must haves.

Is this the future?,

Well this is certainly one fun album. It is just chill, and surreal. Tropical electo beats are mixed with a vocal and percussive sound that give you the wonderful beach-esque experience. Whether you love electronic music or not this is an ear pleasing experience.
