5.0 out of 5 stars No kidding
If you are going to trades futures, read this book, make a few trades, then read this book again. It is a cold, hard look at the reality of trading. While just about every other book on futures trading assumes you are a gullible idiot, this one exposes the difficulty of the pursuit. Its depth and breadth are incomparable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Table of Contents is Best Part of Book
From the table of contents, you'd think this is the best book about futures you could get. "Traders Notes"? Too bad, no real insights from real traders. Can you read this book and understand the importance of calculating different hedges; why a speculator should care what hedges are common for different contracts (so one can interpret the news); how to interpret...

4.0 out of 5 stars A great futures primer., October 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Futures Game: Who Wins? Who Loses? Why? (Paperback)
This book provides an excellent overview of futures trading. It also deals with options and spreads. Anyone who can completely digest the contents of this entire book may be able to gain a slight edge over other novice, unsophisticated traders. This book is also reccomended by the great Victor Niederhoffer, in his book "Education of a Speculator".

5.0 out of 5 stars Belongs On Every Serious Market Participant's Bookshelf, May 21, 1999

This is clearly one of the best investment books written. The title belies the breadth of valuable market knowledge the book offers students of the markets.

I am a long time futures investor and I have several books on the subject. This book: "The Futures Game" is superb. It is complete and the only one to consult.

This review is from: The Futures Game: Who Wins? Who Loses? Why? (Paperback)
... this come comes out "tops". I use the information I learned from this book daily as I trade not only futures but also forex. If you are a trader, this one needs to be one of your "top" resources.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Futures Book, September 3, 2008
Be prepared to get into the nitty gritty of futures trading with this book, I bought it because I was slightly interested and got a little more than I expected, however was still a fascinating read, and not too technical.

From the table of contents, you'd think this is the best book about futures you could get. "Traders Notes"? Too bad, no real insights from real traders. Can you read this book and understand the importance of calculating different hedges; why a speculator should care what hedges are common for different contracts (so one can interpret the news); how to interpret contango for different contracts? This is a large book (well over 600 pages) that looks like it was written simply by collecting introductory articles from a number of sources.

3.0 out of 5 stars A textbook for beginners, August 4, 2001
This book is an essential a textbook for college students. It provides all the basic materials about the futures market. But I feel it doesn't cover too much about the problems of real world trading. After trading for sometimes, I know that there are many tricks using by the professional traders. They are really important. They can give you edges over other traders. But they are seldom covered in college textbooks. So you still need to read other books or learn from other people before you put the money into this risky game.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the essence of clarity., March 26, 2008
By
The author makes the following comment: "....literature on hedging in futures marets is not the essence of clarity." I hope he was including himself. If you don't have a pretty good foundation in Futures you don't need to start w/ this book. I don't know why writers can't start with the basics and work up to the complex nuances. I was very disapointed.
