About the Author

Noble Drakoln is a ten year veteran of the futures industry. He has been a small speculator and a futures broker. He currently is the president of a national futures brokerage. He understands the futures market from both sides of the fence. He lectures and presents seminars on his insider's knowledge of the futures markets.

More About the Author

Noble has authored the recently released book "Trade Like a Pro" and last year's best selling book "Winning the Trading Game". He is also the founder of www.SpeculatorAcademy.com a company that was set up in 2000 to help investors navigate the wild world of alternative investments. He has published a total of six books and produced three-part 8 hr video seminar series entitled "Speculating with Futures, Currencies, and Traditional Commodities". Noble currently contributes to Investopedia and Forbes and formerly operated as the interim editor for Futures Magazine's newsletter "Trends In Futures". He has written articles for Traders Magazine, Futures Magazine, Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities, Pristine View, Currency Trader, Cornerstone, as well as eSignal. He is an international speaker and has spoken on commodity, futures, and forex investing in Romania, Paris, Germany, New York, Las Vegas, and Chicago. Noble has been involved with trading for seventeen years. He started off working for a commodities broker at the age of 17. He received his first Series 3 license at the age of 19. For several years he succeeded as a commodities broker and a import/export trader.

I purchased this book based on the author's notes. Upon receipt, I was very disappointed. For the most part, the information provided can be gotten from free publications available from any commodities exchange for the asking. The text is double spaced and chapters are one or two pages long. Considering the asking price, this is not a good investment.

As a novice investor, I found this book to be a valuable learning tool. The fundamentals are simply explained in a step-by-step approach. One source of an investor's fear is ignorance of the subject matter, and this book successfully enlightens the beginning futures speculator.
In particular, I found the author's honesty regarding the subject to be refreshing. Most publications in this genre present "can't miss schemes" or "can't miss systems". The author here gives equal weight to the rewards, as well as the risks, which is rarely found.

Mr. DraKoln should be applauded for bringing sanity to the futures market. He has stripped away the high pressure, grandiosity of a very powerful financial tool and in the process brought sanity to trading.

The author acknowledges that there are risks and the opportunity for huge rewards in trading futures. Most of us know that, although he doesn't presume anything and makes his book understandable by the novice and new investor. But by bringing higher standards to trading, Mr. DraKoln, in my opinion, is set to revolutionize the way futures are traded.

He advises the would-be speculator to take a measured, sane approach by using such techniques as creating a Futures Trading Plan and keeping a Futures Trading Journal. In a nutshell, the Plan is the road map to where you want to go and the Journal is your experience having taken the journey. The benefits of trading in this fashion are too numerous to list, but the greatest I suspect, as the author admonishes, is to keep the "demons" of fear and greed at bay.

And isn't having a positive trading experience; one that is sane the least we should aspire toward?
