5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome!, September 15, 2006
This review is from: Futuro Deluxe Wrist Stabilizer, Left Hand, Small-Medium (5.5 to 7.5-Inch) (Health and Beauty)
When I became pregnant over 8 years ago, I developed CTS which is quite common. My OB-GYN told me that it would go away once I gave birth.

Well, it didn't.

I've been suffering from pain, pins/needles, and numbness for years. The ergonomic keyboard is a godsend, but activities that involve holding or grasping (eating, curling my hair, putting on make up) cause a great amount of discomfort.

My chiropractor thought he could help me, and I also scheduled an appointment at my GP's. A gentlemen did both Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyographies on me, and it was discovered that I had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my right hand. Surprisingly, a lot of my tingling and pain had to do with tendonitis and 'tennis elbow'! Fortunately, chiropractic massage and the TENS unit (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) have helped my condition *immensely*.

It was recommended that I use a wrist stabilizer when I slept, regardless of the fact that the condition didn't wake me up at night.

I tried several brands at the pharmacy, and the Futuro Deluxe was the BEST. I've been using it for several weeks now, and it's very easy to get on and off. I can definitely see a difference when I get up in the morning! One night, I forgot to put the stabilizer on, and I could feel a difference!

I also use this produce when I'm relaxing around the house, such as when I'm watching TV or DVDs.

There are three different velcroed areas to adjust for comfort, as well as a comfy padded area for below the fingers. Futuro Deluxe Wrist Stabilizer is designed for CTS, so if you suffer from this condition, this is the best product I've seen so far.

Now, ordering this product online may be a bit tricky in terms of sizing. For example, my hands are quite small (some children have larger hands than I do!), and my forearms are small boned, too. However, when trying on the stabilizers at the pharmacy, I was VERY surprised to discover that the Large-X Large fit the best! I would have never guessed this sight unseen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent support, August 4, 2004
This review is from: Futuro Deluxe Wrist Stabilizer, Left Hand, Small-Medium (5.5 to 7.5-Inch) (Health and Beauty)
These braces go half-way up the forearm, so they hold enough of the arm in a straight line to limit wrist motion. The fingers are free, making typing easy, but writing with a pen is more difficult. The Small-Medium size was still too big for me, so I sewed the top strap to shorten it.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2nd pair, June 11, 2009

This review is from: Futuro Deluxe Wrist Stabilizer, Left Hand, Small-Medium (5.5 to 7.5-Inch) (Health and Beauty)
This is my second pair. My first pair I used for about 3-4 years before needing replacement. I spend 8 hours a day typing and suffer from carpal tunnel. I wear these every night while sleeping and they reduce my symptoms dramatically. If I forget to wear them for a few days, I notice a difference. My only complaint is that they are awkward to wear while doing everyday activities, that is why I wear them while I am sleeping.

Ive tried Mueller, Futuro, and McDavid, and after trying them all out, im buying myself another pair of Futuros. Ive tried em all and these are definitely the best. they are the most stable, and more importantly, last the longest. As someone who needs to use these just to function, quality is VERY important. I cant stand having to buy new ones every few months. Muellers last about 6 months to a year. McDavids are putrid and last 2-3 months. Futuros though can last years and years if you use them right and keep them in good shape. Its worth spending a few extra bucks on these than to save a little on the McDavids or Muellers. The 3rd strap especially is awesome at keeping the arm stable and straight.

This is an absolutely necessary product. I fyou have carpal tunnel and wake up at night in pain this will stop it immediately.

It worked for me. If you are at a computer buy this product anyway. Ii will help you prevent carpal tunnel and maybe avoid surgery.

But one for each hand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent support, but needs a middle size, March 28, 2008

This is an excellent stabilizing brace -- but sizing can be an issue.

My husband nearly broke his wrist; fortunately it was "only" a serious sprain. He was told to wear a brace for 2-3 weeks, so off we trotted to the store to find one.

A few years ago, he'd had a bad bout with carpal tunnel, and was very pleased with the right-handed version of the Futuro model. Alas, the store didn't have a left-handed model, so he bought another brand. It wasn't two days before I scurried to Amazon to buy this replacement. (The other one was made largely of plastic, with open spaces and a total lack of support around his wrist, where he needed it. It also got stinky in a hurry. But they cost about the same; go figure.)

This one works well because it supports the entire wrist, not just a couple of spots. It doesn't chafe, either, despite the 12 hours a day he spent at the keyboard. ("My client has a deadline, honey!" <sigh>) And, based on the wear he gave the one for the other wrist, a few years back, it holds up. Hopefully you won't need to wear this for long, but it's good to know it won't fall apart.

The only problem is that he is definitely a "medium" and the small/medium is just a tiny bit too small, and the company's guidelines aren't very helpful. If you're close to the numbers they have for "medium," order the next size up! I wish they made a true "medium"!

I purchased this brace because my doctor specifically recommended it. I was diagnosed with possible carpal tunnel, and possible tendonitis.

I sized the brace using the measurements on the back of the box, and it fits great.

Sometimes the brace pinches a bit at the base of my thumb, which is uncomfortable, but I just loosen it for a while and it's fine.

All in all, though, my wrist feels supported and the pain disappears while I'm wearing it.

These are by far the most comfortable wrist stableizers on the market. Anyone with wrist [roblems should try them.
