Gets the job done!..,
These ankle guards make all the difference in the world for the two sports where I use them: Ultimate and Volleyball. Stablizes the ankle very nicely without causing any foot or ankle pain. This is really surprising given how trivial the actual side stabilizers are. Without these I could not play, especially Ultimate where the field is sometimes slippery and the ankle is prone to rolling. Have tried other stabilizers (sorry, don't remember brand, but they were lace-up)and they hurt my arches after just a few minutes wearing them. There are a few minor problems (see cons) but these get 5 stars because they get the job done with no serious drawbacks. CVS seems to carry this brand, Amazon price might be better...
Pros: - Stabilizes ankle very well. - Does not cause foot or ankle pain if worn correctly. - Easy to wear, no lace-up - Low profile (i.e. fits into existing shoe - don't need a bigger size) Cons: (all minor) - Not machine washable - requires hand washing. - May reduce sock wicking. - Stabilizer may require a little adjusting otherwise might rub against ankle bone. - Black only?

The best. Used for years.,
By The reviewer who complains of a chaffed ankle needs to wear a sock with this product. The box clearly shows the brace worn over a sport sock. You already have a black brace on, so go for it! Wear a sock with color, pattern, fun. A light weight sock works fine. The woman who is frustrated that her brace doesn't actually brace may be too small for it, (though it's very adjustable) or she's not tightening the stretch straps enough. (I'm a tall, but slim man.) P.S.: I used the same brace daily for over 3 years! They last.

Not good for sprained ankles,
By
This review is from: Futuro Sport Deluxe Ankle Stabilizer, Adjustable (Health and Beauty)
I bought this to support my sprained ankle, in particular I wanted a brace that would not allow me to roll my ankle inwards when walking on the street and stepping on an uneven surface.I am not happy with it because it does not support my ankle at all. In fact it seems even looser than the elastic bandage I've been wearing around the house for the past 10 days. Maybe it is too big for me, I normally use woman's shoe size 7.5 Five years ago I sprained my ankle and my doctor prescribed a brace that offered much more support than this, it fitted inside my shoe and it allowed me to walk normally. It had a single piece of metal inside of it while this one seems to have small bits of soft plastic sewn together. So I will keep on looking for something more like the brace I used to have.
