G-Force war Moore's second attempt at leading his own band and proved something of a short-lived failure. This album was recorded in 1979/1980 for JET records (the label of the first two Ozzy Osbourne album; Ozzy married the wife of the owner but left the label) but never properly finished because Gary Moore had troubles with the label and its owner (Ozzy's father in law). G-Force are: G. Moore, T. Newton (ex-Lifetime bassist), M. Nauseef (ex-Gillan drummer), W. Dee (keyboards). The sound quality of the album is weak because it was never properly produced and mixed. There are quite different music styles on the album whereby the hard rock elements dominate. There are some very good songs on the album which G. Moore often played live: "You" and "Rockin' And Rollin'" (two rockers), "White Knuckles" (a superb guitar solo), "Dancin' (melodic hard rock). The weakest moments are: "You Kissed Me Sweetly" and "Because Of Your Love". Women like "I Look At You" (very melodic).

I love the album and think it's underrated. It's not one of the best G. Moore albums but still very good. I think if Gary Moore had overworked some of the songs and if the album had been properly produced, it could have been one of his best.

Although officially his third solo album, "G-Force" was the first attempt of the great Gary Moore at 80s rock, (the genre that would later stand for AOR, melodic hard rock and hair metal). What nowadays regarded as another solo effort by Moore, "G-Force" was actually indented to be the band name upon which the Irish guitar legend would stage his career.

"G-Force" could as well mark Moore's first attempt at establishing himself in the North American market; "G-force" for that matter was formed in late 1979 at Los Angeles and featured bassist Tony Newton, key-player Willie-Dee and drummer Mark Naauseef along side Gary who handles all guitars and vocals. The sound of "G-Force" was built on inventive but catchy guitar riffs, rather straightforward song structures, and undeniably the largest choruses Moore had written to that point. It would be safe to claim that the songwriting and production of "G-Force" was ahead of its time. The guitar takes a protagonist role, bringing to front techniques (particularly shredding) that would become a trademark of 80s rock; in addition the guitar production sounds totally unique, in an over-polished, but overly powerful sound.

Songs like "She's got you" and "You", are chilling dramatic hard rockers, while "You kiss me sweetly" and "Because of your love" are powerful AOR compositions; and there is of course "White Knuckles/rocking &rolling" the definitive hard rock guitar ride. All the above material had surprising-to this day-radio quality that did not make much of an impact in the American market in particular. Moore would disband "G-Force" in the following months yet this album and outfit definitely laid the foundation for the guitarist's career in the extravagant music scene of the 80s.

No words can describe this album!It is simply FANTASTIC!
I would consider it to be the best Heavy metal guitar hero album of all times at the same level of the first VAN HALEN.
It truely was a fist in your face when it first came out and still is.
Why this album remained so obscur is beyond me, GARY MOORE uses the scarriest guitar sound ever heard-from him or anybody else, the songs are filled with power and great arrangements, Mark Nauseef on the drums is a killing technical machine-check out DANCIN's middle part,I Look at you is one of the best Rock heavy ballads ever made while some other songs like HOT GOSSIP or The woman's in love features some reggae or funky parts.HEAVY METAL classics songs:ROCKIN AND ROLLIN, BECAUSE OF YOUR LOVE and again DANCIN'.
The sound of the album is very aggressive and those reggae/funk arrangements shouldn't scare you because they serve a real purpose: making the rest sound even Heavier.Gary Moore lets Tom Newton do the lead singin' and even if his voice is close to Moore's it has a deeper, soul-blues feel.
That band really had something, too bad they split-up shortly after this release.My favourite MOORE's album!Really!I mean it!!
