Product Description

G-Form Elbow Pads, utilizing RPT - Reactive Protection Technology, a composite blend of PORON XRD material and proprietary G-Form materials and technology, offer consistent, repeated impact absorption for dependable performance throughout the life of the product. They are the first flexible, molded, exoskeleton rate-dependent impact pad worn on the outside of the sleeve. The ridges and hinges of the pad are specifically designed to flex with the elbow and arm to ensure complete protection. The G-Form pad will protect you from repeated impacts - unlike a bicycle helmet, it does not need to be replaced after impact, and does not lose any of its protective qualities after repeated use. The unique way the pad is shaped and molded, plus it's attachment to the compression fabric, keeps the pad close to the surface of the body, and this enhances the protection, especially compared to hard shell pads that can move out of place. The elbow pads can be worn in warm or cold weather, on top of or underneath clothing. It can be washed and worn repeatedly, and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. Sizing Chart (measure around arm at center of elbow) SIZE INCHES CM 2XS 5.5 - 7.0 14.0 - 17.8 XS

These work very well for what they are designed for, which is to help disperse the impact area in a fall, helping decrease the damage to the joint. These are not abrasion resistant like hard armor (DUH!). I've been wearing these mountain biking for a few months, and they work very well for trail riding. I would not use them for downhill racing, or other forms a riding/racing that really requires hard armor. These really shine in casual trail riding, where one would normally not wear any armor at all. They are light weight and very unobtrusive. I do suggest that if you are even close to being between sizes that you go with the smaller size, as these will stretch, but they'll never shrink.

If you're not a pro, still a beginner who's making mistakes while learning, I think you're better off with more substantial protection. I honestly think a long sleeve jersey would offer comparable protection in some cases, such as mtn biking, as these do not seem to be up to the task on the dirt. If you're playing out on the street at relatively low speeds (under 15 MPH), then this starts to make sense.

I've tried a few soft shelled elbow pads, hoping for something less bulky and easy to put on and take off. All of them slipped down my arm from regular movement. The G-Form is no exception, but I pressed on and wore it for a few months. I have premium arm warmers that stay put extremely well, and even cost less, but these seem poorly designed in comparison to those, as it just seems to be a low-end one, made of low stretch nylon, with a molded rubber-like pad sewn on.

The fit guide is a bit off. I fell clearly within the range of medium, following the guide, and bought based off the guide. In the store, you really can't try them on, since there's a plastic tag string going right through the center of it. I suggest also buying the next smaller size and returning the one that fits poorly.

The real test of this elbow pad came in form of an unexpected crash/fall from my mtn bike, over the front/side of the bike at low-moderate speed (~15 MPH), that I put my hands out for, and slid for a short bit before rolling once. As expected, it didn't even protect from abrasion. I noted that I instinctively adjusted my pads as I got up from the crash and discovered what was basically road rash on the under/inner side of my forearm, stopping about 1 inch from the point of the elbow.

I had a bad fall one day and scraped up both my arms pretty bad so I started looking for a low profile elbow pad that didn't distract me while mountain biking. Needless to say these were a perfect match. You barely notice you have them on as your biking (especially when going uphill) and they offer enough protection for your elbow and then some. These are great for beginner to intermediate riding. There are rubber supports on each end to prevent the pads from sliding up and down, so as long as you buy the right size you shouldn't have a problem. In my experience, I went a size up. I don't necessarily have big arms, but when I tried my recommended size (medium), it fit way too tight. I've only used them a few times (4-5) so I can't speak on durability, but so far so good. I also haven't fallen on them yet, but based on experiences from other people I know who used G-form products, they protect well.

I do a lot of all mountain/XC mountain biking with some beginner/intermediate free ride stuff thrown in as well. I wanted to protect myself after witnessing many many crashes while at my local bike park (Duthie Hill, WA). Most of these crashes could have been reduced to small mishaps instead of day-enders if the people had been wearing simple elbow/knee pads.

My biggest concern with pads was that most seem to be marketed towards the crazy free ride guys/girls mobbing off of gapped jumps and 10 ft drops. The are bulky and stiff. I wanted something that was comfortable enough for long XC rides but could also be used to for some light weight free ride stuff as well. Because, you know, let's face it... S**t happens. And it's better to have some pads than nothing at all.

So I've been wearing these elbow pads along with matching knee pads for a year now and am pretty content with them. If you get them in the correct size they won't slip around and won't get too hot on long rides. Knock on wood, I haven't tested them out in a fall but they look like they'll help negate injury from dirt dives in the future. Durability-wise, the stitching seems to be holding up ok.

These elbow and knees pads are great! I am average: 5' 9" 160lbs. I Mtn bike in So. Cal year round wearing these as a weekend warrior on full-suspension trail bike hitting enduro level technical trails. Many times I ride solo and these provide that comfort and confidence to roll faster DH with less concern...grins! I am wearing them out. I am a billy goat climber (22 T chainring) and they are comfortable in those higher temps...90-100 f. Keep it simple: If they are not comfortable...you will not wear them!

Have not had a chance to test the protection yet (fortunately!) but the pads fit and feel great. I almost don't feel I am wearing them on the trails, and this is Texas in the summer, so it is hot. The silicone band is enough to keep them in place without needing to adjust on rides up to two hours. The protection is not comparable to a rigid pad, but I would not wear one to ride these trails, this is exactly what I wanted!
