I can't say that I was never a Gerald Levert fan, when his music was played on the radio, I listened.

Gerald Levert may be R&B's most prolific artist of the '90s, having released four solo albums, a set of duets with his dad, a disc with Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill, and multiple LeVert titles. G, his fourth solo album, was supposed to arrive in 1999, but the cool reception to "Nothin to Somethin" took him back into the studio. Let's hope the retooling brings him a hit because this album deserves it. Gerald's music has deepened over time, and ballads "She Done Been," "Second Time Around," "Baby You Are" and "Misery" are first-rate soul, echoing at times the best work of Womack & Womack (think of Teddy Pendergrass' "Love TKO"). The first three songs pair him with Darrell Allamby, producer of a choppy contemporary sound, but even these cuts fit with the rest of the album, which Levert co-wrote and produced. Highly recommended.

Gerald Levert starts his new album where the last one left off. While many may remember "Love And Consequences" for "Thinkin' About It", "Taking Everything", and "That's The Way I Feel About You" w/ Mary J. Blige, the "G" man proves that he has his new style down to a science. The best and most powerful track on the album is definitely "It Hurts Too Much To Stay" w/ Kelly Price. This song takes slow jams to another level and has you anticipating for the next album from Kelly Price, which comes out some time this year. There are other stand out tracks on the album: "Strings, Strings", "She Done Been", "Misery", and "Callin'Me" are just a few of them. This is one CD that you can play all the way through, so the fast forward button will not be necessary. For anyone that liked the "LSG" CD or Gerald Levert's last CD "Love And Consequences", "G" will be an added gem to your collection.

I can't say that I was never a Gerald Levert fan, when his music was played on the radio, I listened. Years ago I bought Father & Son for my husband. I decided to buy this CD...and I haven't stopped playing it. I listen to it all day every day...in the car...at work. I LOVE IT. Levert hit the nail on the head with Misery. My favorite songs are Strings, She Done Been, 2nd Time Around, These & the duet w/ Kelley Price. I recommend this CD...it will be money well spent.

Gerald Levert proves why he is and always will be a R&B mainstay. His fourth solo release "G" is evidence of why he is regarded as such a prolifc singer, songwriter and producer. Levert knows that love is not going out of style, that's why he successfully delivers his "G" thing - on the tracks "Mr. Too Damn Good", and "Don't Take It Away." Listen to his good advice on the bluesy track "Misery", and his tear-jerking apology on "Strings, Strings." If you liked the way Levert sang with Miki Howard back in the day, you'll flip over his duet with Kelly Price. Also check out his background vocalist, Sherena Wynn on "Second Time Around." Ladies, be sure to submit your resume after listening to the disc opener, "Application I'm Looking For A New Love." Levert showcases his vocal range on "Baby U Are", and his hallmark writing skills on "These." He and guitarist Randy Bowland make magic on "Heart Don't." The track "Nothing To Something" speaks for itself and he just might win an award for his "She Done Been. When you're done listening to G's thing, you'll be singing GE-RA-LD LEV-ERT, [in harmony] come rescue me!

I, as many Gerald Levert fans, had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this CD since early November. So when March 7th finally arrived, I ran and got the CD. I was a little nervous as I ripped the packaging open, but when I heard the first verse of "Application", I knew I was in for a treat. I listened to all 13 songs with a smile on my face. Some I like better than others of course as with any artist. But I can honestly say this is a CD you can push play and not have to worry about forwarding through. My faves are Application, Nothin to Somethin, It Hurts to Stay (an excellent duet with Kelly Price), She Done Been, Second Time Around, and Misery. A true pleasure for all fans.

Yeah, evvybody remembers "Cassanova", right? And G. Levert's bow to the Philly Sound (and my favorite) "Answering Service"? Seems as if he had a cut playing on the radio aalla time--well, what's wrong with that? This CD has track-to-track good jams on it reaching one of it's many peaks with that nothing less than extraordinary duet with good girl Kelli Price. Superb. Or, better put, "Too Damn Good"...he has matured so much it's kinda hard to believe that he did do "Cassanova", in fact. He really is a force to reckon with and this CD shows that Eddie's kid is making daddy and us ol' heads proud. Buy this, now. You will love it.
