A Classic Has Just Gotten a Little Better!, October 7, 2007
This review is from: G.H. (Mlps) (Audio CD)
For years fans have complained about the sound quality of this compilation of the best of Simon & Garfunkel. The good news is that the sound quality has improved from mediocre to better although it's not the best sounding remastered cd that I've heard recently. In other words, the sound quality is okay but not great but is still a little better than it was. Although I am not a fan of live recordings, I have to say that the live tracks here sound pretty good and don't take away too much from the overall cd enjoyment although I definitely prefer the album version of "The 59th Street Bridge Song". In addition the other live tracks are: "For Emily, ....", "Homeward Bound", and "Kathy's Song". These are interspersed throughout the album with the studio tracks but don't sound too out of place unlike the unfortunate "Bye Bye Love" which stood out like a sore thumb on "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
The mlps design though is one of the best I've seen with good quality cardboard and a sturdy construction which faithfully resembles the original lp. Also included is a 22-page booklet of all the lyrics in both English and Japanese.
Recommended if you are not too picky about sound quality.
