Cobra has re-established its island base, but the organization is crumbling; Destro and Zartan have both resigned, and the Baroness is caught between love and duty. While the Joes infiltrate Cobra Island, Cobra Commander makes a violent attempt on General Hawk's life and the South American nation of Sierra Gordo is invaded by a mysterious new high-tech commando unit. As the players enact their strategies, the pawns move into place. "Players and Pawns" also introduces the most anticipated new addition to the G.I. Joe mythos - Wraith - whose debut comes in a 12-page story penciled by Talent Caldwell of Aspen Studios.

Brandon is the reason I don't buy G.I. Joe comic anymore. This guy turned out some of the worst G.I. Joe stories that could be put together. Why they would let this guy write comics about characters he hates or does not understand is beyond me. Please skip this book and look for ones by Larry Hama.
