5.0 out of 5 stars G.I. Joe - Special Missions
This is a good read. There are several short stories that involve the Joes in highly dangerous scenarios defeating the ruthless terrorist organization, cobra. some of the themes (story lines) depicted in this volume seem to mimic actual past current affairs that involve real terrorist attacks that have occurred throughout major cities within the united states. overall...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the complete series
The Special Missions stories are great, but this TPB leaves much to be desired for.
It only collects 3 out of the 5 Special Missions books.
The other 2 SM; Brazil & The Enemy, where never released in TPB form.
This TPB contains;
- GI Joe Special Missions: Manhattan (2006)
- GI Joe Special Missions: Tokyo (2006)
- GI Joe Special...

2.0 out of 5 stars Possible shipment issue, August 2, 2007
This review is from: G.I. Joe - Special Missions Volume 1 (G. I. Joe: A Real American Hero!) (v. 1) (Paperback)
It took much longer than expected to receive this graphic novel, and when I finally got it in the mail from Amazon, it had a different cover on it than the one shown on this page.

I am not sure what happened, the one I got is also described as G.I. Joe special missions but I have a feeling there was a mix up.

Not one to cry over spilled milk, I read this anyway and here are some thoughts I have about it: For one, I did not like the short story format, as I was expecting an ongoing story or a "lost mission" type of story. Beyond that I will say that some of these stories were good but I felt others were very dry.

The worst part about this is that it seemed thrown together. I was assuming that I would be reading about the regular Joe team and even though they are there; the writing of the dialogue between the characters does nothing for their actual personality. If you are not familiar with the original Joe comic line that was written by Larry Hama in the 1980s, or even for that matter the cartoon then it may not bother you. It bothered me, because each person in these stories has a personality, a flaw and a past and the approach with their characters seemed to be jostled with amatuer disregard.
