Great buy, just too bad it's made in Taiwan.

The only thing I would truly change about this sheath would be to add some sort of loop that I could attach a strap to so this can be thrown over my shoulder.

The Ontario machete is a great great product, but it does not come with a sheath.

The Ontario machete is a great great product, but it does not come with a sheath. When I received this sheath I was very pleased with the quality and the snug fit to my blade. I do a lot of river hikes in rough country and swimming is a must as well as jumping off cliffs, I was very pleased to find that the sheath has holes drilled in it so the water drains out also when I jump of the cliffs into the river I do not have to worry about the machete slipping out because the sheath holds it snug. Overall great product and would highly recommend.

Was a little skeptical when I pulled it out of the package but now I'm stoked. Drain holes on this flexible yet sturdy material are a nice idea for ease of cleaning if needed. The belt clip is a quick attach swivel type that can be mounted/unmounted without having to remove your belt. It also has a built in sharpener that actually works! My Ontario had a slightly dull spot midway on the blade, but with each pass through the sharpener became noticeably finer. Lastly, and most important, is the snug grip it keeps on the blade. Anyone who has an Ontario knows they're hefty, so when I tried shaking the blade out of the sheath and it didn't budge, I was sold. It is also light enough to be almost unnoticed while wearing empty. Great buy, just too bad it's made in Taiwan.

I have a nice 18" wood-handled Tramontina machete. The only thing it was missing was a sheath. Bought one of these (elsewhere) but wanted to leave a comment here (because there weren't any when I bought mine) saying it isn't the best if you're looking for a sheath for the Tramontina.

This is a fine product, but the Tramontina is a bit loose when inserted. Keep this in mind if you buy this for the same reason I did.

I have this sheath and love it. I have a survival kit mounted to it by ranger bands. I have besides the machete, a 5 1/2" blade knife, a folder with a 3" knife and a saw blade and awl, for drilling holes.
I have 2 large trash bags to waterproof shelters and collect water.I have a loud whistle, and a magnesium/ferocite firestarter. I also carry a sharpening stone.

For the price you can not go wrong. I carry one in the trunk of my car and am getting the pieces together for one for my wife's truck. A great buy for the ever prepared.

This is a good product. You need a dremel tool to g rind off the rivit that holds the belt loop because it will scratch off the powder coat off a good machete. And grind off the rivit that holds the knife sharpener too. Throw both of these things in the trash after removal. But for the money its a great sheath.

Used to carry my Ontario Milspec machete. The blade sharpener is pretty comical, but it dos'nt interfere with the sheaths function at all.

Ontario 6145 Military Machete fits well in to this sheath. Holes help drainage. Not flexible but can take rough treatment.

I bought this based on the recommendations of (probably) the same people that helped influence my machete decision. I took one star off because as others have noted, there is a button at the top of the sheath that may scratch your blade when inserting or removing it. Also, be wary of where the blade 'sharpener' is when inserting and removing. I didn't see very many good endorsements of that part either.

Other than that, this item is exactly as described and seems like it will hold up in field use settings. And it is pretty light, so it does not add any noticeable weight to your machete.
