5.0 out of 5 stars Another cracker in the life of Peter June 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first in the 'Peter Chronicles' as I like to call them. It is the prequel to Happy Ever After. In this Peter is looking for 'The One' and he thinks he may have found her in the local supermarket. All he has to do is get her home...

Having read Happy Ever After before this, I knew somewhat what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. Just as dark and malevolent as it's successor, the events of this story serve as a sort of trial run for the events of Happy Ever After. Once again we find out Peter is not firing on all cylinders, and his idea of love and togetherness is truly warped. Seen through the eyes of both Peter and Susie in differing points of view, the story builds up to fever pitch tension. I recommend this totally, as a great start to a great series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book April 11, 2012

I actually got the second book free and read that one first not realising that it was the second in a trilogy. I really enjoyed that one and this one was no different. I think the main character is soo creepy and out of his mind that I can't help but want to know what he's going to do next. The story kept me entertained and it's one I would definitely recommend to others. My only complaint is that there were a few grammatical errors that did occasionally distract from the story. And I thought the price was a bit much.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is an OK book January 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was very humorous which I really enjoyed...Peter has a few "I need to Google that" moments which I found myself laughing at. It was not my favorite book ever. I find the lead character to be kind of boring but I will read the next book in the series and see if I like him any better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Demented August 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have became a fan of Matt Shaw's writing, so as I read this book I was not a bit surprised by the creep factor. Great read, with just enough creepy, disturbed, and mental instability to be unique... Loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Poor Poor Peter December 10, 2012

This was my second book by Matt Shaw, I love his writing style. After I started, I could not put it down. As others have said this is the story of Susie and Peter. Sure there is murder and blood and I won't say anymore, but I hope someday Peter will find his true love.
I look forward to reading the next book in this series "A Fresh Start"
Thank's Matt

5.0 out of 5 stars Spine tingling August 8, 2012

Stepping into the mind of a depraved individual is a frightening and chilling experience, but Matt Shaw has managed to take me there. Following the twists and turns of the mind and almost creating empathy for a deranged character with this book is a ride, I highly recommend you board.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Sense of Humor? Twisted is more like it. June 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This book really surprised me. Happy Ever After was so great that I did not think a follow up novel could compete with it. G.S.O.H. Essential is a worthy prequel. It is very different from Happy Ever After and yet very similar.

In G.S.O.H. Essential, we get to see Peter experiment for the first time with his house. You could read this novel as a stand alone but you would miss out on so much. This book will show you how some of Peter’s ideas in the past failed and when you think back to Happy Ever After, you’ll see how his plans grew into near perfection.

Much like Happy Ever After, the story is told in two perspectives: Peter and Susie. In this novel, we get to see Peter outside his house. We get to see the stalking side of Peter. Peter is searching for Ms. Right and he finds Susie. While Vanessa in Happy Ever After had a family that had to be dealt with, Matt Shaw changes it up and has Peter contend with the ex-boyfriend and the best friend of Susie. It’s very different and nice to see Peter in new conflicts and new scenery.

The other surprising part of this book is how funny it is. I actually laughed out loud several times getting some looks in the break room at my work. Peter’s view on life is so strange, you can’t but help find the humor in it. For example, Peter could tie you up, force you to watch as he beat your whole family to death with a baseball bat, and then, apologize profusely for knocking over and breaking your little league trophy. Then, ten seconds later, blame your family for putting up a fight. Then, another ten seconds later, blame you for having such a meddling family. There are many moments inside Peter’s head like that.

I liked this book so much, I feel I should buy Matt Shaw the most expensive tv dinner I can find. (Read the book to find out what I'm talking about.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and terrifying! June 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Deeper into the twisted mind of Peter Jenkins is where this story takes us.

Back to the start of his first obsession...poor Susie.

All Peter wants is his Happily Ever After....and he will stop at nothing to get it!

He just needs to get her away from all the interferences...just needs the two of them to be alone so he can show her that he really is the one for her.

She will understand in time...understand why it has to be this way.

I prefer books that don't resort to bad language and sexual escapades to "entertain" me. I would not recommend this book to anyone...sorry.
