The color of the watch band: black
I have had my eye on the new Casio Aviator all analog product line since they came out. The black resin with orange face came first, then the black IP plated stainless steel band with the blue face was released, then a slew of other incarnations of the watch surfaced. By far the GW3000BB is my favorite of them all. For a long time I had been looking for a fully featured, extremely rugged watch that was simple and classic, yet modern. This fits the bill perfectly. I was able to pick this watch up for $240 and I must say that it is worth every penny. The fact that it is solar powered means I never have to wind it or replace the battery. The Atomic clock signal reception/calibration also means that I will never have to set it either. The 200 meter water resistance coupled with G-Shock's durability not to mention the watches ability to withstand extreme G forces without harming the watch or it's functions means I can wear this watch daily during any/all activities without worry. This watch will still be ticking keeping perfect time long after I'm gone. I am truly enamored with this watch. I highly recommend it.

This is a great precision watch. When I first opened it and put it on, I did have some difficulty learning how to use the watch, but I soon figured it out in less than 15 minutes using the manual. The watch was thicker than I expected to be(about .6 inch thick), at first I did not like this but after wearing it for weeks, and I have grown fond of it. If the watch were any thinner, the resin case would look cheap and flimsy, any bigger the watch would be obnoxious. I think it is the perfect size. There is a slight curvature to the lens protecting the watch face, this is something is not noticeable from the pictures. It is slightly reflective and quite scratch resistant (so far). The resin band is also very comfortable and secure, and from what I can tell very durable as well.

You can accurately tell what time it is down to the minute using this watch. The minute hand ticks slightly once every 10 seconds. The second hand ticks once per second when it has high battery life, and once every two seconds when the batter y is low. I have never experienced this 2 second per tick however, as mine has always ticked once every second, I have never had a problem with battery life. I use it normally, and don't go out of my way to set it in the sun or deliberately charge it. The atomic syncing is an awesome feature, although it does not sync for me successfully every day, the amount of time I technically would be "losing" would be impossible for a human to detect. The second hand matches up perfectly with a digital G-Shock watch I have every time I compare them.

I do have to complain about the luminous paint on the watch. It is the only real flaw with this watch. It does a great job absorbing light but releases the light too fast. After a few seconds of exposing it to the sun, the watch face will glow in the shade, this glow will quickly fade in a few minutes. Reading the watch face is very difficult if the watch has not been exposed to some sort of light, for example if it is 2:00AM and you have been wearing a jacket covering your watch for the past 2 hours, trying to read your watch under darkness would be virtually impossible. It functions quite well when you transition from environment with lots of light to an environment with little light, so long as it has been exposed. I have also read complaints of other reviewers on the volume of the alarm; I find it to be loud enough. It can wake me up from the other side of the room. On stopwatch mode the second hand ticks at 1/100, completing a full rotation of the watch face in 1 second. However, this stops ticking in 1/100 after one minute has elapsed. I'm not sure why it does this, perhaps to save power, perhaps it's because I'm doing something wrong.

This watch is like a nerdy digital watch in cool aviation analog watch clothing. You can tell it is very high-tech, very precise by the movement of the watch. You can tell it is rugged and almost indestructible by the feel of it on your wrist. It is a watch you don't have to worry about in any and every aspect.

What can I say, I already love G-shocks because I'm hard on my watches and as far as this one goes, I just wanted something different. Sure, it's a little confusing to set at first but just follow directions. (when it says "hold 'A' for 5 seconds, it's means 5 seconds...not just till you hear the beep) It's great looking, not too big, tough, solar, and just a great piece. The shipping was outstanding as well. Purchased on Saturday, received on Tuesday. You can't beat it.

Great watch,it IS a bit larger than a standard "G-shock",but you really have to study it side by side to notice a difference.Band is very strong, buckle is almost indestructible. Really need to pay attention to the instructions for set up,as it is amazing to watch it set itself up after initiating.Persoanlly, the only slight flaws I see are no illumination as in all other G shocks, and the "city set up" is a bit confusing. You have to set the watch either manually,or designate the CLOSEST city for you,in auto mode,{which is a blast to watch it set itself to}. Ahead of its time{no pun intended} CASIO has a winner here, push button illumination would make it SUPERB against every other brand.

Overall very pleased with this purchase. Product was as advertised. Consistent with previous reviews, the controls on this watch are in fact quite complex, I leave the instructions in my briefcase.... I travel across multiple time zones and not wanting to wait for midnight until the watch updates usually perform manual time changes and just let the atomic time keep the minutes and seconds accurate. Seller delivered the watch in perfect condition two days ahead of commitment, would buy from them again

I'm in love with this watch. It's light, rugged and utterly functional. I'm taking a trip overseas next month and I've already set the world time function to my destination. In seconds, I can swap my home city time with the pre-set world time and the atomic updates will continue across the pond. Too cool.

The look is even better in person and I'm having trouble keeping my eyes off my wrist (new toy and all that). The directions are pretty clear, though it will probably take you a beat longer to figure this watch out if you're used to digital G-Shocks.

My only complaint (and it applies to ALL G-Shocks) is that it doesn't look like you can replace the band with anything other than a factory model. No customizing it and if the band breaks, you have to order one from Casio. Not a huge deal and I knew it going in, so no stars subtracted.

If you're on the fence about this one, buy it. You'll thank me later.

This watch is really great! Doesn't always receive the signal for the automatic time updates (in MD), but it's still very Accurate. The movements are very precise. I've only had the watch for a week, but have already had a bunch of complimants on how good the watch looks. This watch looks a lot better than the other digital type watches...goes just as well with a suit as it does with jeans and a t-shirt. I definitely reccommend this watch for someone looking for a rugged, dependable, and sporty watch.

I debated giving this watch 4 stars, but my negatives are very minor, and nothing that I did not know when I purchased it. The description of the watch and its functions is well presented by Amazon and Casio.

I was looking for an ultra-rugged analog watch that was super accurate, yet one that I did not have to worry about replacing the batteries. Sure, this one will eventually fail, since you can only get so many cycles out of a rechargeable and/or a capacitor powered watch - but I expect to get quite a few years out of this watch.

I LOVE the fact that the second hand goes into power saving mode at night and automatically restarts when in the light. Also that after 7 or 8 days in darkness, the hands go into a stasis mode while the internal unit keeps time - and the hands "wake up" when exposed to light.

I had an earlier version of Casio's atomic watch. I travel a lot and loved the simple push-button ease of switching time zones combined with the ability to pick up the signals pushed out of Colorado to synchronize the time.

Pros:
- great looking
- easy to read
- super clear domed mineral crystal
- accurate
- rugged
- easy to use
- appropriate for casual or dress wear
- solar powered
- excellent value!

Cons:

- the 24-hour dial at the 6 o'clock position is kind of superfluous
- the secondary time dial at the 3 o'clock position has too many lines in between the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions that actually make it harder to read. Had they put only one hash mark in between each number it would be MUCH easier to figure out what time it actually is.

For those that complained about being "locked in" to only a Casio band, you can purchase a "band adapter" for G-Shock watches at Countrycomm-DOT-com. I actually prefer the divers style band it comes with - even though it is an aviator's watch. :-)

This watch is the perfect blend of retro analog readability with modern accuracy and green technology.

UPDATE * * * :

I have now had this watch for two and a half years (as of Aug 2013). It gets about 70% daily wear, rotated with one other watch. I have not been easy on this watch, and it continues to perform flawlessly. I have also gotten into the habit of leaving it on the sill of a south facing window on the days I am not wearing it to top-off the charge. Picks up the time-synch signals with no problem. No regrets over this purchase.

This being my 5th and as of date most expensive Casio watch I have owned, it has also been my most difficult watch to setup. The lettering inside are a bit tiny and people with not too good vision will experience some difficulty. Build wise, the watch is solid. Its got a good sturdy feel to it. I was a bit disappointed with the actual size of the watch as I was expecting it to be a little more bigger, as prevalent in the XL series of Casio G-shock watches. Back-light / illumination is missing in this watch but I have no complains as I knew what I was getting into. The Neo-brite luminous hands do help but starts to dim out after about 3 to 4 hours in the dark. Also another small let down is the strap which is not as broad as it could have been to give this watch an even more tougher look. Other than that it is an attractive watch, one which can be worn both casually as well as formally.

The watch performs as advertised, but I have one big disappointment. All photos of the watch show all of the markings on the dial face done in white, which even though they are small makes them legible. Unfortunately, the markings on the actual watch are gray and therefore virtually unreadable.
