The fact that these are American Arias is the biggest pro. That said:

The relative pros --
*The print is clear and easy to read.
*The book is bound well enough to withstand handling.
*The selections are varied and useful to know.

The relative cons --
*A student might get less use out of buying it than a teacher. (90% of the arias might be inappropriate for a certain repertoire.)
*The book is over-sized and awkward to copy for study/use purposes.

How exciting to have an anthology of American Arias. The information about the composers, operas and arias is very helpful for context and program notes. It is also a wonderful way for singers to introduce themselves to this outstanding body of literature.

This book is a terrific compliation of contemporary American arias written for sopranos. It is an important addition to any serious soprano's repertory. The music is clear and easy to read.

Many good inclusions in this collection, most of which I have had much trouble finding elsewhere in any other anthologies.
