I reviewed a lot of external drives before I bought this one. I bought this drive to use as a Time Machine backup and Windows backup for my MacBook Pro. It worked flawlessly out of the box using Firewire 800 on both operating systems, which was important to me.I like that the manufacturer is local to me, and after a few calls before the purchase, I am confident if I have any problems, there won't be any issues should there be any problems with this drive if it fails.
