Not worth it, no android support,
This review is from: G-Tech Smart Fabric Wireless Keyboard (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased one of these recently and it's a tad on the stupid side. Pairing is convoluted at best, their tech support is a joke, and the fact you have to run a third-party app rather than sticking with the standards is infuriating. If you have an android device don't even bother, eggheads far smarter than i have tried and failed. If you have a palm, blackberry, symbian or winXP device and a desperate need to look silly, go for it. The technology in the hardware is undoubtedly cool, it's just unfortunate that the proprietary software is garbage.

These do NOT work with:Windows 7 Windows Phone 7 Android Phones or Tablets iPhone iPad Playstation 3 In order to use these keyboards, you have to install G-Tech's software on your device. The newest supported phone operating system is Windows Mobile 6.5, with the latest supported phone being the HTC Touch, which came out way back in 2007. If your phone is newer than 4+ years old, this keyboard will not work with it. As for computers, unless you are still using Windows XP (which is now over 10 years old), this is not going to work. Though it calls itself a "bluetooth keyboard," no bluetooth devices recognize it without the proprietary G-Tech software being installed first, which basically means it is not officially a "bluetooth" keyboard. None of my devices can see these keyboards to connect to them. Save your money. Though these look cool, they are useless if you have any newer technology to connect them to. I can't even advise for how well they work since nothing is compatible with them any longer.

This product was advertised as being compatible with BT devices, but requires a driver to work. Does not work with iPad or other Apple devices. I contacted the company to find out if this was in the works, and they stated that they had no plans for iPad/iPhone compatibility. I didn't take the time to test it with Palm or Rim devices.

DOES NOT WORK,
This review is from: G-Tech Smart Fabric Wireless Keyboard (Black) (Electronics)
I bought this keyboard from someone who advertised it as working with a BB Bold 9700; when you go to the G-Tech website, it only lists it as working with some much older models. I could not get it to work. I sent an email to their tech support (the phone number is out of service) on Tuesday; I have yet to hear back from ANYONE. The long and short of it? Don't buy...unless.... the person selling it here on AMAZON will gaurantee it to work, i.e. you can return it if it doesn't.

re-set this up with my new lenovo y470. works great albeit the tedious setup. you have to go to the website [...] and download the driver setup and pdf manual. install the setup BTFabricKeyboard software that the driver package comes in. And I believe you have to install the Iexpresssetup before you can install the BTFabricKeyboard software. Then you pair the keyboard with the bluetooth software you have installed already making sure you have a steady light to show that it's it in pairing mode by holding the button for about 4 seconds, releasing, wait for it to come to a steady light. Then once paired you right click on the bluetooth setup properties to find out which com port the keyboard connected to and then go to the BTFabricKeyboard software with the right com port selected from the dropdown menu press connect. should provide you the battery life and other options.so once you FINALLY get that started it should run smoothly and connect with no problem just using the BTFabricKeyboard software to connect. No need to set up through the bluetooth software. It's really convenient to use when you need to type short things or websites on the address bar from across the room. It's pretty responsive as well but you have to get used to the orientation of the keys so typing without looking will need some getting used to.

so i'm typing on it now . . .the clicking noise gets old fast and it's about as fast as a cell phone keyboard. took a while to set up but it runs fine now. i haven't been able to get it running on my Droid yet. over all it's worth it for a little less money (used a coupon). I hope it's studier than it looks. Hardcore geeks don't waste your time. Casual users better have a geek on hand for setup. |
