It's refreshing to know that amidst the cluttered airwaves and cd bins of pre-packaged Britney Spears/Backstreet Boys type of product there still exist great songwriters. G Tom Mac's music is every bit as vital and current with today's sound but has one glaring difference - substance. In the same instant I was bouncing around to the infectious groove of "One Whiskey" I was totally relating to G Tom Mac's lyrics of trying to move on after a breakup. I think anyone who has been through a rough breakup could relate. That is the sign of a great songwriter - the ability to express his own feelings and find a commonality with his listeners. Another sign of a good song writer is to be able to produce a body of work in which each song has it's own character. I am so tired of listening to cd's where every song sounds like the last. G Tom mac shifts from the easy groove of "Shadow Walk", to the darker "Cry Little Sister", to the peppy and hummable "Happy Time" to the beautiful duet with Charlie Sexton in "Is Anybody Here?" "One Whiskey" made me want to buy this cd and the rest of the songs made me want to find more of G Tom Mac's music. Like any great cd, the more I listen to it the more I discover. This is the return of great songwriting!

I've listened to this CD I don't know how many times. G Tom Mac (well, it's really Gerard McMahon, this guy who did a song in the Lost Boys movie) writes excellent pop-rock tunes that balance sadness and joy, passion and angst in an amazing way.
The songs are full of hooks that ring in your head for days--they make you feel good and make you think too. I can definitely recommend this CD. I've heard his website is pretty cool too.

Warning to Witchblade fans: the version of "Cry Little Sister" is NOT the remix that was done specifically for Witchblade. I was disappointed at first, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the entire CD is excellent!

Awesome music. Cry little sister is awesome; rest of album also rocks. Virtually impossible to get bored of this disc. Also check out Lost Boys sound track with a great version of cry little sister.

in the tepid popular music scene these days can be found HERE. The hook that grabbed me was Little Sister, stand-out music from the Lost Boys soundtrack. For years, I'd wondered who wrote and sang this...and now the mystery is solved: G Tom Mac. A catchy, dark tune, the heavy-laden music and vocal tracks work to build an unanswered tension. The rest of the cd rises to the challenge set by Little Sister. Half brings half-buried memories of the Beatles ala Elanor Rigby, but not enough to ruin the originality of the song. Melodically, the strings counterpoint well with the vocals and rhythm track.
I could go on, dissecting each track, but you should do that for yourself! Buy the cd. Listen hard. Enjoy much! Can't wait to hear more...

This is the most consistant album from a new act. Most acts have three good songs and the rest is filler material. G Tom Mac offers well crafted song after song. Gerard McMahon is the freshest songwriter in years. His melody, production and vocal delivery can never be anchored down to a specific genre or decade. He remains detached not unlike Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel and Sting. Far removed from the music business factory sound, these Artists float around the atmosphere and touchdown delivering clever and deep musical expression. I look forward to the next landing by G Tom Mac! John Steel
