I have been using the Wall Whale for about 3 weeks and really like it. You can feel the resistance to forward movement and know that resistance is being transferred to force the brush against the pool wall or floor. The fin swivels back smoothly when pulling the brush back up the wall and then back again against the pole for another downward or forward stroke. This operation is much less physical for the owner than having to hold the pole brush against the wall while pushing the pole down the wall. I feel certain that I am getting a much better brushing from the Wall Whale compared to a simple brush. It's the next best thing to the $1,400++ electric powered "robo-brushers".

The only fault I find with the Wall Whale is the brush itself. I think GABCO needs to put more thought in the angle and quality of the brush. I find that as the wall meets the floor of the pool, I am not able to transition the pole angle back toward me enough to avoid banging the brush frame against the pool floor. With additional bristel length & width plus and a bit of adjustment the to angle I think they could overcome the problem and have a better device. I would gladly add $10 to the price for a better brush.

After having my pool built in 2009, I needed to brush the plaster twice a day for the first month... then once a day for the following month... and weekly thereafter. After five months of this, the metal neck on the brush snapped. Despite that, I decided to buy a new one. I like how the brush will hug the walls of the pool. It's difficult to brush them hard enough without the plastic rudder maneuvering the brush into the wall.

It'd be great if there was another purchasing option for this type of brush, but the only one I found was a plastic rudder you could attach to a standard brush. That one looked a bit flimsy. Hopefully, with less frequent scrubbings, my second Wall Whale will last longer.

Works great. The tail pushes the broom against the wall. You can do the wall one handed. Also, the tail flips so that pulling it back up is easy. Pushing down is harder because its pushing against the walls or floor, but still not difficult. It's solid, but made of plastic so I keep mine under the eve of the house. I don't think you could leave it in the sun exposed all summer SoCal.

Need your own handle / pole.

Cheers!

This is the second Wall Whale for us and we love it. The whale tail flap provides much more force that you could manage with a brush alone, making brushing the pool faster and more effective.

I was also very pleasantly surprised to find that it's made in the USA! That's reason enough to buy it! It's a great product and well worth the small price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, August 24, 2010

This brush works really great. I used to have a small shallow pool and could sweep the sides without much trouble. My current pool is much bigger and over 9 ft deep. It was difficult to keep the brush against the side of the pool in the deep part. This brush makes it a lot easier to sweep it. It really holds against the side. I have only used it for a month, so I cannot comment on its durability, but so far it had saved me a lot of work trying to keep the brush against the side.
Update: Brush neck broke after just 30 days, but seller immediately replaced it, great customer service, good product, not so durable.

2.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY!, June 30, 2010
This review is from: GABco Products WW18RES Wall Whale Brush (Misc.)
I was excited to buy this product hoping that, paying extra for this type of brush, it would save time. It did what I thought would do, less strain, easier cleaning. Yesterday, just shy of 3 months of owning this, the metal neck snapped. There is no possible way to fix this. It is pooly made product headed for my trash can. Now I see why they only offer a 30 day guarantee. Definitely not worth buying if it needs to be replaced every few months. Save you money!

I recently purchased this product at a local pool supply. I over paid based on this price listed of $19. My cost was $25 plus tax.

My back has been giving me issues lately and this product is exactly what I needed to continue weekly maintenance on the pool. The product can be set to various pressure settings. I started with medium and quickly changed to maximum pressure. Giving just enough strength to drive the pole/brush down the pool wall you feel the brush making a very flush connection. That makes for an efficient use of energy for me and great results on the pool, especially on the 8ft deep section.

This is a must have for the do-it-self pool guy. Plus you CAN interchange the product to a different brush. One feedback stated the brush was lower quality - true enough. You're not buying this for the brush honestly. The whale tail tool is a real value. I just hope it lasts for at least two So Cal summer seasons.

What a relief not having to try and push sideways on a 12 foot pool to get some pressure on a brush that's underwater.
This brush you just push the pole forward--it provides some resistance to being pushed because that force is being transferred into pressure between the brush and the wall. My shoulder is less sore, and overall it's less effort and easier to brush the pool walls now. So far mine has lasted months without any signs of breaking or wear. It's a little more awkward to store as it's bulkier than a regular brush but that's a trivial thing for me. I'm happy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware! Plastic back, but nice technology, September 20, 2009
This review is from: GABco Products WW18RES Wall Whale Brush (Misc.)
We had this whale brush for 2 years. Brush lasted, but neck did not. Beware...it's plastic back will break in time. Nice technology with whale tail forcing brush toward wall. However, if it doesn't stay attached to pole, then it's worthless.

I had a smaller pool for 6 years at one home and a much larger pool for the last 5 years. I used to absolutely HATE brushing my pool. With my smaller pool, it was hard enough, and with my larger pool,I couldn't even finish it in one take(I was very particular in the way I brush my pool). Not any more! I can do the whole pool in about 10 minutes. My pool is about 20 x 30 and goes to a depth of about 9 feet. I'm not out of breath or tired when I get done now. I can use one hand in the shallow end, but need two to keep the flow on the deeper end. As others have said, you feel more resistance when pushing down, but that's because it's doing what it's suppose to do. You no longer have to push hard down AND against the pool side. Just a slow, even downward push. I see a few other reviews saying the neck snapped. I bought mine this past summer and it hasn't broken yet, though I will admit, I don't brush as often maybe as others do as I also bought a Barricuda cleaner this past summer so that takes care of a lot of the maintenance for me. Maybe they're pushing too hard? I know for me, it doesn't take much pressure on it to do the job. Even my 13 y/o son can easily use it and doesn't mind doing it when asked. For the little extra money paid, it is WELL worth it for the time and effort it will save you. I will also agree that the bristles could be angled better or some such, but I HAVE seen the bigger one, and the bristles ARE angled and have a wider reach. I'll be buying the bigger one when the time comes.

I see one reviewer who can't believe some of these reviews as he is definitely not happy with the product. He mentions the flap getting in the way around the stairs. I have trouble using a regular brush around my stairs because of the fit, so with the added attachment, there is of course more trouble. Also, when I brush around stairs, I normally use quick, short movements. This brush really isn't made to work like that. It's made more for slow, deliberate upward and downward, or forward and backward, movements. It's just not going to work with short, quick movements. The flap inhibits that. Slow and easy does the job. That could also be the problem with the flap not flipping when pulling it upwards. You have to give it a second for the flap to flip in the right direction. Again, slow and deliberate. It only takes a few minutes to adjust to the way it works. I know I'll never buy a regular brush again as long as this product is out there.
