I bought 4 of these for my van. They ALL broke within 4 months of installation. Save yourself the headache and buy the 524T from directed electronics. I also tried to get a replacement and Amazon doesn't even have the contact info for the manufacturer, what a waste of time and money.

This worked great as a replacement actuator for my rear door on a Ford SUV. It 'feels' stronger than the original and needed no modification to mount. No kidding, even though it came with additional mounting hardware, this thing kinda slipped right in place in the original mount. All I had to do was set the length and it's worked great!

I bought this for actuating the manually operated lock in the driver's door of my 1997 Subaru Impreza (the other 3 doors are powered to follow the action of the driver's lock). The actuator was supplied with all the unique parts needed to do the job. I just needed to install a piece of aluminum (inexpensive purchase from local home improvement super store) to mount a pivot arm to. There was a convenient place in the existing door panel steel to mount the actuator itself. I used a very similar unit to replace my failed trunk lid actuator. It works better than the trunk actuator part it replaced and it cost a lot less!
The image supplied by Amazon.com for this product doesn't show the other parts that were included: small diameter steel rod clamp to secure rod to existing lock mechanism. metal strap with holes, to use for mounting or transferring actuator force. mounting screws

I just purchased a 1999 Suburban, and sadly, four of the five power door locks weren't working. I did some online research, and found Actuators online for about $30 each. Times are tough, so I figured I'd just wait until I have extra money. Out of nowhere, I searched Amazon, and what did I find? These universal Actuators for less less than a seventh of the price! I ordered this one, as well as a lesser expensive one here on Amazon (Xpress P3500 2-Wire Actuator), to compare the two, and they're both built with like materials and work GREAT in my Suburban. I did have to make a few modifications, such as drilling out the hole so I could use the stock rods in my truck, installing these at an angle in order to use my stock mount, and snipping/splicing the wires so I wouldn't have to get new caps for my Suburban. All in all, these are a GREAT value! I have a hard time keeping any vehicle for longer than a year, so even if these go out quickly, they'll still be a huge money saver for me. Also--I'm NOT a mechanic by any means, but with a bit of internet research and hard work, you can do it! It took me 3 hours to replace the first door, and 1 hour to do the second. I'm now ready to place an order for two more to finish the job.

These things are great. Thieves have been stealing newer truck tailgates from parking lots in broad daylight around here. I used these actuators to add electric locking on my F350 tailgate and for the toolboxes in the bed. Now when I park somewhere and press the lock button on the door or on the remote key fob, everything is locked. Great when out working.... press the button to unlock the tool box, grab something, and lock again as you are walking away.

Put this in to convert my jeep doors to power latches and it worked great. I fabricated new pushrods so I can't comment on the rod or mounting hardware.
Great price Looks close to the same quality as the Autoloc ones I have at a fraction of the price. |
