This review may be a little "wordy" but could be helpful to amateurs like me. First of all I am 75 years of age and shake like a dog crap'n a bowie knife so don't expect any of those "cover with a quarter" stories; I am lucky to hit a bull in the ass with a bass fiddle. At any rate, I decided to get a pellet rifle to get rid of pesky pigeons messing up the roof on my guest house. I bought a Gamo Bone Collector Bull Whisper and it came with about 50 pba pellets. I set up a target and managed to scatter pellets all over the back yard and hit the target occasionally but never near the bull. I then got on the internet and discovered that slower pellets were more accurate and bought several types and brands. I tried a total of three brands and six styles of pellets, searching for some accuracy. I decided to try these red tip pellets (mostly because they are pretty) and "voila", I began to hit the center of the target with regularity. Now I can put all of my shots in the bull at 20 yards and the groups are about 3". After developing this skill I was ready to slay pigeons but after a total expenditure of about $500.00 I discovered my wife likes pigeons, feeds them when i am not looking, and will not tolerate them being shot-------damn!

I bought three different types of pellets for my pellet gun, and these by far won the battle. These were not only accurate at 50 yards, but lethat as well.

I use a Gamo Whisper air rifle to hunt squirrels, typically between 20 and 40 yards. I previously was using Raptor PBA pellets due to the 200fps increase in velocity. When I received these Gamo pellets I had to do some minor scope adjustments due to the slightly heavier pellet and lower velocity (1000 fps is still more than enough oomph), however my first hunt with then proved their worth. These pellets pack a serious punch. Typically I would get some runner squirrels with PBA chest shots until the laserbeam like wound cavity did them in. With these Gamo poly-tips I have had either instant kills or maybe the squirrel ran 10 feet. The proof is in results, I highly recommend these pellets.

These pellets are great! I just got mine today and they are very accurate when you sight them in. Anybody who hunts birds, rabbits, and squirrels they have unbelievable expansion.

Shooting soda cans always seemed more fun than shooting paper but filling them with water and using the RED FIRE was explosive. No clean entry hole. The entry was actually blown outward. The back of the can was gone. Should really do a number on small game or pests. Accuracy was also good.

The Gamo Red Fire pellets displayed outstanding penetration. Its polymer tip is suprisingly sharp. This pellet will tear into most objects it strikes! The quality of the pellets seems to be acceptable. All pellets were consistent and uniform in shape. The Gamo Red Fire is a cool looking pellet. However, the accuracy of the pellets was good, but not great. At 30 feet without a scope, I was able to shoot 2" inch groups using a smooth-bore Crosman rifle. A rifled barrrel would increase the accuracy of the pellet. In short, the Gamo Red Fire is a great hunting pellet. Its outstanding penetration, acceptable uniformity, and sufficient accuracy make it a "good buy" for that purpose. Nevertheless, you should be aware that for backyard target practice or plinking, other less expensive pellets should be considered before the Gamo Red Fires are purchased. Domed or flat-headed pellets are best for backyard fun. I will keep a tin of Gamo Red Fires around the house just in case those pesky squirrels get too close!

I've yet to do any hunting of varmints with this ammo but I have taken a few shots at my targets and I know this stuff will kill (insert big smile here) the pellets flattened on impact meaning they did just what they are suppose to if it were to hit a small animal it would no doubt kill it if not incapacitate it for your kill shot but I am very happy with this and plan to buy many more in the spring time

I bought 3 cans of Gamo Red Fire pellets and returned all 3. I couldn't get a consistent close grouping at 20 yards shooting from a bench rest. On examining the pellets, I found the plastic nose piece to be loose in almost every pellet.

With the pointed nose loose, air pressure causes the point to shift to where the point is off center causing the pellets to sail away from their initial trajectory. Unacceptably inaccurate, especially at such a high retail price.
